صحفيون بريطانيون يستخدمون وسائل إجرامية للحصول على معلوماتهم عن طريق اختراق الهواتف النقالة

هناك هوس محموم وسباق غير طبيعي بين الصحف البريطانية لتوزيع أكبر عدد من النسخ، أدى فيما يبدو إلى استخدام جميع الوسائل الممكنة لجلب الأخبار التي ترفع من منحنى المبيعات بما في ذلك وسائل غير قانونية وخروقات لحقوق الأفراد الشخصية.

فقد كشفت صحيفة الغارديان البريطانية امس عن فضيحة مدوّية من العيار الثقيل أبطالها مجموعة من الصحفيين العاملين في الصحف التي يمتلكها حوت الصحافة روبرت مردوخ والتي اضطرت صحفهم لدفع حوالي مليون جنيه استرليني لتسوية قضايا خارج المحاكم بعد كشف قضايا تجسس موظفيها على الهواتف الشخصية لشخصيات سياسية ورياضية وفنية للحصول على أخبارهم.

صحيفة نيوز أوف ذي وورلد من ضمن الصحف التي تجسست وعندما كشف أمرها اضطرت لدفع تعويض مقداره 700.000 جنيه استرليني لرئيس الاتحاد العام لكرة القدم غوردون تيلور لتسوية الموضوع خارج المحاكم، كما تورط كل من محررة صحيفة الصن ربيكا ويد ورئيس الاتصالات من حزب المحافظين آندي كولسون في قضايا اختراق الهواتف. وبطلة عمليات التنصت هي مجموعة صحف روبرت مردوخ التي أنفقت ما يزيد عن مليون جنيه لتصفية قضايا قانونية خارج المحاكم خشية فضح أساليب غير أخلاقية واستخدام لأساليب إجرامية للحصول على قصص ومواد مقالات وتقارير تساعد في بيع المزيد من الأخبار. وقد استخدم صحافيو مردوخ محققون خاصون قاموا باختراق الهواتف النقالة لشخصيات اعتبارية للحصول على الرسائل الخاصة فيها والمعلومات المدونة في ذاكرتها وخصوصاً معلوماتهم السرية المتعلقة بملفات حساباتهم الضريبية، وكشوفات البنوك، وفواتير الهاتف المفصلّة.

الأمر متشابك هنا بين رجال السياسة والصحافة، فمن ضمن أبطال هذه الفضيحة الإعلامية اللاأخلاقية آندي كولسون وهو أحد قياديي حزب المحافظين وهو مدير اتصالات ديفيد كاميرون والذي كان يعمل نائب رئيس التحرير في صحيفة نيوز أوف ذي وورلد «أخبار العالم» عندما كشفت الإثباتات التي تدين الصحفيين العاملين معه المئات من التصرفات غير المشروعة من أجل الحصول على المعلومات. وهذا الموضوع شديد الخطورة لأنه ترتب عليه أن قام كبار المديرين في صحف مردوخ بتضليل اللجان البرلمانية وهيئة الشكاوي الصحفية وعامة الناس.

كما حملت الشرطة أيضاً المسؤولية كونها لم تحذر الناس الذين كانوا عرضة للتنصت على هواتفهم من المستهدفين، إضافة إلى تورط خدمات تنفيذ الأحكام القانونية التي لم تتابع التحقيق في جميع الاتهامات الموجهة ضد الشخصيات الصحفية الواردة أسماؤها والمتورطة في هذه الجرائم، إضافة إلى هيئة الشكاوي الصحفية التي ادعت بأنها قامت بالتحقيق لكنها فشلت في العثور على أدلة متعلقة باستخدام أساليب غير قانونية للحصول على المعلومات مثل التغطية على قضايا التنصت التي أدت عام 2007 إلى سجن مراسل صحيفة نيوز أوف ذي وورلد بعد أن ثبت أنه اخترق ثلاثة هواتف نقالة لثلاثة من كبار الموظفين العاملين في القصر الملكي، والتي حينها قالت صحيفته إنه تصرف دون علم منها. وقال مصدر موثوق من الشرطة لصحيفة الغارديان التي لم تكشف عن هويته أنه وأثناء التحقيق في قضية غودمان وجدوا أن الآلاف من أجهزة الهواتف النقالة تم اختراقها من قبل الصحفيين. وقال مصدر آخر من الشرطة مطلع إن عدد الهواتف النقالة التي تم اختراقها في تلك القضية تراوحت ما بين 2-3 آلاف هاتف من ضمنها هواتف وزراء وأعضاء في البرلمان.

A senior police officer will "establish the facts" about claims a newspaper hacked into the mobile phones of thousands of people - including celebrities and politicians.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson told Sky News he has asked Assistant Commissioner John Yates to report back today.

The investigation follows claims that police officers found evidence of News International staff using private investigators to illegally intercept voicemail messages.

The company, which publishes the News Of The World and The Sun, paid out more than £1m to settle cases which threatened to reveal evidence of its journalists alleged involvement, according to The Guardian.

Sir Paul said: "I think we have got a track record of doing exactly what we are supposed to do. If we need to investigate, we will investigate.

"We will do the right thing and do what we have to do to investigate crime wherever it exists."

MPs from all three parties, including former deputy prime minister John Prescott and Cabinet minister Tessa Jowell, were among the targets of the hacking, The Guardian said.

Model Elle McPherson, Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and singer George Michael were also among those who were targeted.

Mr Prescott said he wanted answers from the police over the claims they knew his phone was hacked into by private investigators working for journalists.

PR agent Max Clifford, another whose phone was allegedly hacked into, added: "If the police had this information, why didn't they act on it?

"There are lots of questions that need to be answered, serious questions."

A spokeswoman for News International said: "News International feels it is inappropriate to comment at this time."

The Guardian said Andy Coulson, Conservative leader David Cameron's director of communications, was deputy editor and then editor of the News of the World at the time of the alleged hacking.

Clifford unhappy about claims

He resigned after royal editor Clive Goodman was sentenced to four months in prison for plotting to hack into telephone messages belonging to royal aides.

However, Mr Cameron has insisted Mr Coulson will not lose his job over the claims.

The Guardian said one of the settlements made, totalling £700,000 in legal costs and damages, involved a case brought by Gordon Taylor, chief executive of the Professional Footballers Association.

In the Goodman trial, Mr Taylor was revealed as one of the public figures whose phone messages were illegally intercepted by private investigator Glenn Mulcaire, who was also jailed in 2007.
