They say blondes have more fun - but that's the last thing Lindsay Lohan should be worrying about at the moment.

The troubled actress was pictured with a newly dyed mane of hair yesterday - the day after her court appearance over drink-driving charges.

Lohan, who spent 10 hours having her black locks coloured blonde, was ordered to wear a clunky SCRAM bracelet at Monday's hearing - an alcohol monitoring device.

The contraption detects booze consumption by measuring alcohol emitted from the pores by sweating.

Lindsay's lawyers tried to get the judge not to impose such strict measures, saying the SCRAM bracelet would interfere with the 23-year-old star's filming schedule.

But that didn't sway Judge Marsha Revel, who merely suggested Lohan may have to delay her commitments.

The Mean Girls actress was due to fly to Texas to work on a new movie, believed to be Machete, a Robert Rodriguez film that co-stars Jessica Alba and Robert DeNiro.

But with a conspicuous detector fastened around her ankle, things could prove a little difficult.

It measures any sweat molecules containing alcohol and records the data

The device is almost tamper proof, but any attempts to sabotage will be picked up on and the wearer can expect a call from a probation officer and a court hearing

Yesterday Lindsay, who is naturally a redhead, was pictured leaving the Andy LeCompte Salon in West Hollywood where she had her hair dyed.

She was pictured leaving the salon with a friend, who helped her through the throng of paparazzi and into a car.

The singer was dressed in a red hoodie and jeans which appeared to be bulging around the ankle on her right leg.

It's not the first time she has worn the bracelet - in July 2007 she agreed to have one fitted after a stint in rehab.

Other stars tagged with the SCRAM device in the past include rapper Eve, who wore one for 45 days back in 2007 following a driving under the influence conviction.

Lohan appeared before a judge on Monday after missing a probation hearing last week relating to a 2007 drink-driving case.

The Hollywood actress, who agreed to the conditions, claimed she lost her passport in France last week, preventing an earlier return to Los Angeles for the May 20 hearing she missed.

Lohan arrived in the Los Angeles area on Saturday after a flight from Europe, where she spent a few days at the Cannes Film Festival and was partying into the early hours on the day she was supposed to be in court.

Judge Revel said Lohan had failed to complete alcohol education classes imposed as part of a 2007 sentence for reckless driving, drunken driving and driving under the influence of cocaine.

Revel warned Lohan last October that she risked going to jail unless she took the matter seriously.
