About CCIE 350-001 Exam

The Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) certification is the most advanced Cisco certification and even in the networking world. CCIE exam is designed to ensure that only candidates having expert level networking knowledge and real-world hands-on experience can pass it.

There are two exams required to achieve the CCIE status: CCIE Written (Prequalification) and CCIE Lab. The CCIE Written exam can be taken at any Authorized Prometric Testing Center (APTC) like other CCNA or CCNP exams. However, the CCIE Lab exam can only be taken at few Cisco offices around the world. The lab exam is proctored and graded by a Cisco staff expert. It basically test everything that can be configured on Cisco routers and switches. Current IOS version used in the lab exam is 12.1 and it can change at any time to suit Cisco requirements.

The eight-hour lab exam tests your ability to configure actual equipment and get the network running in a timed test situation. You must pass the lab within three years of passing the written to achieve certification. Your first lab attempt must be made within 18 months.
