Second CBB licence for German Hanover-Re

The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) has issued a second licence to global reinsurance giant Hanover-Re. The new licence allows Hanover-Re to establish a branch office in Bahrain, in addition to Hannover ReTakaful, established here last year. Hanover-ReTakaful is the principal underwriter of the firm's global retakaful (Islamic reinsurance) business. Hanover-Re Bahrain branch will provide conventional reinsurance services throughout the region and beyond, thus enabling Hanover-Re to provide its clients with both takaful as well as conventional solutions from a single source in Bahrain. The insurance market in the region is evolving rapidly. The Bahrain branch is the only office in the Middle-East for the Germany-based Hanover-Re. Hanover-Re, with gross premiums of around $12 billion, is one of the leading reinsurance groups in the world and based in the town of Hanover in Germany. Desiree Mc Court www.orient-tion.de |
