Moroccan and German ministers of Interior voiced, in Rabat at the begin of July this year, their resolve to boost bilateral cooperation in the area of security and immigration, notably through exchanging expertise.
This came during a meeting between visiting German State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, August Hanning and Moroccan Minister of Interior Chakib Benmoussa, who expressed satisfaction with permanent contacts between the two departments.
The two ministers also raised the management of migration. In this respect, they expressed satisfaction at the momentum marking north-south dialog in the field of migration since the Euro-African conference on immigration held in Rabat back in July 2006.
The two officials also agreed to pursue close collaboration towards an optimal management of migratory fluxes, in keeping with the Rabat Declaration, in which 57 countries committed to create and develop a partnership to address the migration phenomenon within respect of the fundamental rights and the dignity of the migrants.
Following this meeting, the German official described as "fruitful" these talks, noting that his visit to Morocco is aimed at boosting close bilateral cooperation.
