The Wretched Souls

Nature has always set the rules, that living things must adapt to that include Man the smartest animal of them all. Nature some times must assert its power by way of Earth quack tornados or the mother of all disasters tsunami.
Last week in an obscure country called Burma according to the world and Myanmar to its ruling junta was struck by a cyclone that laid in its wake almost one hundred thousand dead and guess what that’s not the real problem. In the wake of the disaster the whole world responded to aid the living and displaced, but the reactionary Government wont let aid in and to add insult to injury the government is holding a referendum on a constitution amendment while their civilians bodies are floating on the shore of its delta.
This nation has been locked from the world for the last 15 years after a coup d’état took place the phobic generals have shuttered their countries windows to the outside world
Two months ago a short lived uprising by monks was met by an iron hand that left many of them dead.
A person must ask the question what must the world do in the face of a government that will let its people rot then let the world come to its aid. What legal responsibility should the world community use to force humanity on an unhuman junta?
The wretched souls of Burma are amongst the many in this cruel world whose only crime was to be born and their sufferings are not isolated event but are part of fraternity of the voiceless many who suffer in the shadow of a world that claims to champion human rights.
When I read of the many that died a cruel though crossed my mind, I said maybe these dead were better off then those who survived. Who will want to live under hunger and oppression?
