'Judaising' Jerusalem?
8 September 2006
SHEIKH
Tayssir Tamimi, who headed the Palestinian delegation at the World
Conference of Religions for Peace, said that the real problem was that
Israel was bent upon 'Judaising' Jerusalem, a common heritage of many
faiths, and isolating the city from its Palestinian neighbourhood with
an 'apartheid wall'.
According to the Islamic history, the early
Muslim converts used to turn their faces in worship towards Jerusalem.
But Allah changed the direction of worship in accordance with the wish
of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and ordered Muslims to turn
their faces to the Holy Kaaba in Makkah. After the conquest of Makkah,
which established Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) authority in
the Arabian peninsula , we see no attempt from the Prophet to conquer
this city.
Arabs and Palestinians should first try to solve
their core issues, instead of bickering over occupied Jerusalem. It is
time for Hamas and other Islamic groups to give up the idea of
destruction of Israel, and start the peace process to rid their people
of their miseries. That so because firing Kasam rockets will only bring
more missiles from the Israeli side
