India packs off steamy Negar to Norway
FEB 7: Iranian-born
actress Negar Khan, who has featured in several steamy Hindi music videos
and mainline Bollywood films, complained on Monday that she was being
deported from India without notice.
The agitated actress told private news channel ‘Aaj Tak’ from her mobile phone that she was being taken straight to the airport from Mumbai's immigration office after visiting it for "routine visa work."
"They are not even letting me go home to get my bags. I have no clothes or money on me ... They did not give me any notice," she broke down and told the channel.
Bipin Bihari, a deputy police chief in Mumbai, told a news agency that Khan, who carries a Norwegian passport, was being deported for working while holding a tourist visa.
"Iranian-born Khan will be sent back to Norway on the first available flight. She was on a visitor's visa but she has engaged in several commercial ventures," said Bihari.
He added that immigration authorities had warned her last year.
"We issued notices last year, in view of which she had gone back to Norway, but she has returned again this year to work," Bihari said.
Model-turned-actress Khan made a screen breakthrough two years ago with a raunchy Hindi song "Chadti Jawani" (Rising Youthfulness).
Khan has been
in the country off-and-on for the past three-four years and has starred in some
dance sequences in films including 'Shaadi Ka Laddoo'.

images of Hindu Gods and religious icons. Cafe-Press.com has on display 'Hindu God Shiva classic thong' priced at $ 12.99 with the religious deity's face, another called iGod Shiva Classic thong for $15 makes a statement 'Namaste it loud. Your e Hindu and you e proud'. The sale has angered members of the Hindu community who have demanded their immediate withdrawal from the website. The Om Classic Thong priced at $8.99 explains "Om or rather aum is a sacred Hindu symbol that represents the absolute." Leading the protest for the products withdrawal is the American Hindus Against Defamation (AHAD), the largest Hindu anti-defamation group in North America comprising several Hindu organizations. "We have recently come across two sets of products -thongs and boxer shorts with the images of Hindu deities and symbols imprinted on them. The AHAD finds the depiction of universally revered Hindu deities and symbols on the undergarments extremely offensive," it said in a statement. |
