Amber Peach: Bras For Lipstick Lesbians!

Outraged over Showtime's announced cancellation of "The L Word," the vulvalicious Amber Peach urges you and your friends to send Showtime your black bras. "I know that I normally try to support more important causes," Peach concedes, but provides instructions to Bring Back the Beals' after the gap.

"The envelope should be labeled 'The Black Bra Movement,' stated Peach, "and sent to

Robert Greenblatt
President of Entertainment
Showtime Networks Inc.
1633 Broadway
New York, NY 10019"

I think if we had done this for "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman," that show would still be on the air.

  • Does this site really get much lesbian traffic? Hope she's targeting her campaign wisely.

  • Oops, I'm an idiot. Just held my breath and went to the "straight" Fleshbot to see this posted there (I'm commenting from Gay Fleshbot). So sorry lesbians and anyone else puzzled by my comment.

  • I watch every week and ask have asked myself more than once.. do lesbians really watch 'The L Word'? It seems so like soft porn written for guys.

  • I can't speak for "lesbians" (I'm a straight guy, and plus I don't even like "The L Word," not even for prurient reasons)... but my bi gf and her lesbo roommate LOVE the L Word, and when I point out that it's basically a glorified sitcom they talk about how important and empowering it feels to see a show focused on queer women characters, even if the show is trite. They even go to "L Word" parties and stuff. So yeah, some do.

  • Wouldn't it be better for lesbians, that instead of accepting the "lesbianism" presented by tee-vee networks, they co-opt a not distinctively lesbian show? Think the guerrilla gay bar movement, but for programming; or how, before the GGBM, the gays adopted Golden Girls & Sex in the City as their own. I'm thinking Wings or The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. are ripe for the lezbo makeover.
