   About Ashley Alexandra Dupré
I am all about my music, and my music is all about me… It flows from what I’ve been through, what I’ve seen and how I feel. I live in New York and am on top of the world. Been here since 2004 and I love this city, I love my life here. But, my path has not been easy. When I was 17, I left home. It was my decision and I’ve never looked back. Left my hometown. Left a broken family. Left abuse. Left an older brother who had already split. Left and learned what it was like to have everything, and lose it, again and again. Learned what it was like to wake up one day and have the people you care about most gone. I have been alone. I have abused drugs. I have been broke and homeless. But, I survived, on my own. I am here, in NY because of my music. It started when I moved in with a musician during my odyssey to New York. One day, I was in the shower singing “respect.” He and his lead guitarist burst in, had me repeat it and it started. We wrote, rehearsed and toured. After recording a bit with them, I decided to move to Manhattan to pursue my music career. I spent the first two years getting to know the music scene, networking in clubs and connecting with the industry. Now, it’s all about my music. It’s all about expressing me. I can sit here now, and knowingly tell you that life’s hard sometimes. But, I made it. I’m still here and I love who I am. If I never went through the hard times, I would not be able to appreciate the good ones. Cliché, yes, but I know it’s true. I have experienced just how hard it can be. I can honestly tell you to never dwell on the past, but build from it and keep moving forward. Don’t let anyone hold you back or tell you that you can’t…because you can. I didn’t and here I am, just listen to it…. What we Want is my latest track. It’s really about trust, something my past has made very difficult for me to feel. This one was inspired by a guy, who taught me not to confuse my dreams with the sounds of the city…I hope you like it.
I created my own profile using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!

Shocking But True - A Must Read
10 January, 2007
-->

When John Abraham first hit his name on the headlines winning the ’99 Gladrags Manhunt Contest, not many thought him to be film material. But after 4 years of struggle, John made a splash with his debut ‘Jism’ where he featured alongside his real life love girlfriend Bipasha Basu. Since the time of his debut, John has remained a male sex symbol in Bollywood.
John Abraham

Though, his relationship with Bipasha has been going steady for almost 4 years now, rumours of him having an affair with his co-stars have made the rounds of tabloids more often than his performances. In a freewheeling exchange here, John clears the air about his status with his co-stars and also drops a lesson or two on making friends in Bollywood.
John Abraham
Pinning John Abraham for an interview is, well, trying to pin a moonbeam to the ground. Between walking the ramp for good friend cum designer Rocky S, doing the body mambo for Baabul and juggling ad campaigns, an interview is the last thing on his mind. But I prise him away from all the hullabaloo and coax him gently to talk on the women in his life—his heroines. After some gentle persuasion, John opened up. Not before adding, “I have nothing negative to say about any of my heroines. I’m not trying to do good PR, because none of that will help me at this stage of my career. Each of my heroines has contributed immensely to my career.ف Reproduced below are excerpts from a conversation.

Bipasha Basu
Perhaps the fact that she’s also seeing me off the sets makes her my most cooperative co-star. She is also perhaps the most professional and accommodating actor I’ve worked with. We also worked together in Aitbaar and Madhoshi. Bipasha’s performance in Madhoshi was outstanding, unfortunately all the hard work she put in the film went unnoticed because the film was a disaster.
Tara sharma
She looks docile and sweet but at the same time she is very witty. Her biggest advantage is that she is like clay, a director can mould her any way he wants. During Saaya she did everything an actress would have been asked to do. She needed the right start with the right person.
Udita Goswami
She looked very beautiful in Paap. She had a look that made her different. Her short hair and lean frame worked. She has got one of the most beautiful bone structures. Pooja (Bhatt) did her best to push Udita and that was the best training ground for her.
Lara Dutta
When we were shooting for Elaan we had nicknames for each other. She used to call me, ‘hey sidey,’ and I would call her, ‘hey item.’ Though we are a little formal with each other, at the same time we are pretty cool too. Lara is more like a male buddy. In Elaan we had a lot of bike riding shots but with her I was never worried. She is a Jat. She would keep telling me, ‘Don’t worry about me just get the shot right.’
Priyanka Chopra
She’s one of the most professional actors I’ve worked with. I’ve never heard her say, ‘NO!’ I don’t think the word exists in her dictionary. She says yes to everything. Tell her the shoot will be extended and she will be fine. Even if it means that she packs up at two in the morning and her next shift is at six in the morning.

EVA GREEN IS NEW BOND GIRL

EVA GREEN IS NEW BOND GIRL

Eva Green to be Bond girl to Daniel Craig’s new 007 in Casino Royale

Apart from French actress, Columbia Pictures announces Danish-born actor Mads Mikkelsen as the villain in the 21st Bond flick.

19 February 2006
MUMBAI, INDIA

The new James Bond heroine is French actress Eva Green, it was announced on Thursday by the movie’s distributor, Columbia Pictures.

Columbia had earlier announced that English actor Daniel Craig will be the new James Bond. Eva Green will play the role of Vesper Lynd in the next James Bond flick named Casino Royale.

Twenty-five-year-old French actress Eva Green made her first appearance in 2003 movie The Dreamers. She enacted the role of a French woman, who along with her brother strikes a chord with an American during the infamous student riots that rattled Paris in 1968.

Her another notable performance was in the Kingdom of Heaven in 2005.

By naming Eva as the new Bond girl, Columbia Pictures has put to an end rumor mills that where working overtime on the famous English spy’s next costar.

Many Hollywood stars, including this year’s Oscar-nominated South African actress Charlzie Theron, Thandie Newton, Olivia Wilde and Kimberly Davies, were rumored to be considered as the Bond heroine after Daniel Craig’s name was announced as the new Bond.

Columbia Pictures, owned by Sony, also said Danish-born actor Mads Mikkelsen will be the Bond villain, Le Chiffre.

US actor Jeffrey Wright has also been named in the new Bond flick. He will play the role of CIA sleuth Felix Leiter.

Casino Royale’s production has started in Prague. It is slated for a November release worldwide. The shooting will be completed in the exotic Bahamas, Italy and United Kingdom.

Casino Royale, an adaptation of an Ian Fleming novel penned in 1953, is being directed by Martin Campbell.

Daniel Craig takes over from Pierce Brosnan, who played Her Majesty the British Queen’s secret service agent in the last four James Bond movies.

The last Bond movie Die Another Day was released in 2002 and it raked in more than $425 million in ticket sales alone. Halle berry was Brosnan’s heroine in the movie.

The first James Bond Movie was Dr No, in which Sean Connery played Bond. Casino Royale will be the 21st in the Bond series.

Sean Connery and Roger Moore have played the most popular Bond characters. Roger Moore’s Bond movie Octopussy (1983) was partly filmed in India. It also had tennis ace Vijay Amritraj and Kabir Bedi in its cast.

Rang De Basanti: New Commode, Same Shit

SAMIDHA SATAPATHY

17 February 2006
MUMBAI, INDIA

Co-writer of the Rang De Basanti script Rensil D'Silva had this to say to rediff.com, (which incidentally was full of praise for the movie): "If you have to contemporarise patriotism, you have to do it with an issue that is relevant like the MiG issue. The characters in the movie, like the audience, are cynical about such issues and therefore relate to the movie."

As we read the rest of the article, it becomes clear that the 'relevant story' is not really important. It can be any story. Pick one from a cauldron of 'issues' – communalism, the rape of 'our' women, corruption, terrorism, etc. etc. Keep it general enough so that nobody is really disturbed. Imagine a movie with a real social message that actually ruffles no feathers, upsets no political applecarts -- and in fact, earns commendation from an ex-PM known for soft peddling Hindutva.

At least one section of the population has regularly seen the Hindi film with a disapproving eye: the middle classes. For them, at best it is an 'entertainer;' harmless, but otherwise pointless. At worst, it stands as the bastion of immorality, the harbinger of Western modernity and the 'fast' outlook on life that is ruining 'Indian culture' with its sensationalism and dancing girls.

Rang De Basanti has suddenly won much acclaim from those very sections, the legitimate guardians of 'our' morality, culture, heritage, etc. etc. It is, after all, a film that makes 'our' youth want to become 'better' citizens. It doesn't matter what the issue, as long as the youth are awakened and aware, the film has done its work.

The Aamir Khan-led group become the 'good' terrorists, the youth who are begging to be disciplined, regulated, monitored, and told how to be 'good' citizens. The movie tells us to join the government (the IAS), the police, and other state institutions, while it is battling the very same institutions. Would it be too irrational to say that the appeal of the film lies not in its pro-status quo message (since when did joining the police become a radical act?), but the actual action that draws on the narrative of how terrorist attacks are carried out.

The film draws on, what is in reality, a highly dangerous and criminalized fight for justice that is nowhere fully approved, least of all by the State, which hunts them down as criminals, denying them any right to exist, whether they are Naxals or sex workers. The 'heroes' in the film need a cause to become revolutionaries, not the other way around. And these very 'heroes' never fail to praise every State institution they can find. The 'problem' is actually 'corruption,' located in a few individuals.

Is the 'problem' really solved by shooting a few politicians? Is this simplistic narrative of a fight for justice not a narrative that wants to erase what in reality are often difficult contradictions for the individuals involved? The film wants us to face the 'horror' of British oppression, the 'horror' of police brutality. Apparently these things happen because some politicians are greedy, because sometimes the government is negligent. Things like that. That's all there is to it.

The film almost seems to say, just be brave enough to watch these horrific things I'm going to show you, don't miss the coca-cola ads, notice how eloquently Aamir Khan fights against completely 'wrong' people, and that's all there is to politics, justice, and saving the 'nation.' So what is the film really telling this 'youth' it has constructed?

'Lost' Actress Rodriguez Sentenced Again

(AP) This photo provided by the Honolulu Police Department shows actress Michelle Rodriquez after her...Full Image

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Actress Michelle Rodriguez, who served five days in jail in Hawaii last month for drunk driving, must serve 60 days for violating her probation with that arrest, a spokesman for the city attorney said Monday.

Judge Rex Hesseman also sentenced the former star of television's "Lost" to 30 days of community service with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, stints with the Mothers Against Drunk Driving victim impact panel and the city's hospital and morgue program, said spokesman Frank Mateljan. She must also attend an alcohol education program.

The 27-year-old actress is scheduled to begin her jail term on May 31, Mateljan said.

A message left with her attorney, Henry Holmes, was not immediately returned.

Rodriguez was arrested in Hawaii last December on the drunken driving charge. She pleaded guilty last month.

The Honolulu arrest violated the three-year probation term the actress was given in 2004 after pleading no contest to charges of hit-and-run, driving on a suspended license and driving under the influence of alcohol, Mateljan said.

Her probation on those charges has now been extended until June 2009.

Rodriguez's "Lost" character, Ana Lucia, was killed off in an episode broadcast earlier this month. The show's producers have said that plot twist had nothing to do with her arrests.

Nicole Saba a crook in Cairo
23 May, 2006

Lebanese singer/actress Nicole Saba has begun filming the first scenes of her upcoming film "Dastit Ashrar" (A Dozen Evils), written by Khaled Jala and directed by Rami Imam, son of prominent Egyptian comedian-actor Adel Imam.nicole

According to the London based weekly, Laha, Nicole revealed that the role is a major shift in her career.

The film, costarring Mohammad Rajab, Khaled Saleh and Yasmin Abdul Aziz, is a comedy that revolves around a three-member gang who commit robberies and other crimes.

On a different note, Nicole is taking advantage of her stay in Cairo to film her new music video for the song "Amel Amlah" (Committed a Crime) written and composed by Egyptian singer Tamer Husni and which she will release as a single.

Recently, Nicole announced that she is no longer banned from holding concerts in Egypt by the Egyptian Musician’s Union.

The Union had banned Nicole until she resolved her disputes with production company ‘Alam El Phan.’

‘Alam El Phan’ has dropped the lawsuit filed against Nicole after both sides decided to work out their differences.

Nicole stated that a misunderstanding was the cause of the entire dispute between her and ‘Alam El Phan,’ and that she never broke any of the terms of her contract with the company, owned by Muhsin Jabr.

Muhsin claims he filed a lawsuit against Nicole after she refused to abide by the conditions of their contract.

India reveals its darkest thoughts
10 May, 2006

Meenakshi Sinha
Mumbai, February 26, 2005

If it's black, it can't be light. Obvious? Not anymore. Not after Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his pathbreaking film. Here's what some famous Indians think about the colour of darkness.

"Black is solitude," says leading glamour lensman Subi Samuel. "When I think of the colour, the first thing that comes to mind is solitude. It denotes the darker moods - feeling insecure, low key, forlorn.

"As a photographer, Black has a special significance because it limits your pallet. You have to achieve everything you want to achieve within the confines of just one colour and create interesting results from the interplay of Black and White. So yes, in that sense Black is very powerful and empowering," he adds.

According to former model-turned-filmstar, Anupama Varma 'Black is enticing'. "It is one colour that I associate with everything that is sensual, dark and formal. It is the colour of the night. I always wear Black if I want to look my best. For me, it has certainly more positive connotations that negative.

"Sanjay's film was truly spell-binding, in its context, presentation and performances. Mr Bachchan as usual was fantastic. So was Rani and the little girl Ayesha. I have asked all my friends to watch the film because I think everybody needs to be touched by it. You may cry during the three hours. Expect that. But there's no sorrow attached to those tears. And that's the strength of Black. It truly demystifies the colour and shows that Black can be both positive and overwhelming!"

"Black is terribly versatile and empowering," insists well-known fashion designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed. "At one level it is no colour at all. At another, it reflects so many moods. When mixed with white it gives a graphic effect and with other colours, it tends to lift up the hues. There is nothing quite as versatile. Though you may suppose the colour has dark meanings, I find it very empowering. As a designer, I tend to see its repercussions and impact in terms of fabric and garments. The colour is intensely physical - for example, it has a slimming silhouette and can actually make you look slender. To be honest, I love everything about Black," he says.

While ace fashion photographer Atul Kasbekar doesn't like talking about his work, he does admit that Black is chic. According to him: "It's a very safe colour to wear. With Black you just can't go wrong. I love the colour and find nothing dark or sinister about it."

Even 'item girl' Ishaa Koppikar thinks that Black has an impact that no one can ignore. "Black can be stunning when combined with other colours. It's just as dramatic on its own. Love it, or hate it, but you can't ignore Black. It has a way of arousing extreme reactions and that is what I like about it," she says.

Interestingly, actress Kim Sharma feels it is gray, rather than Black, that is the more baleful shade in the palette. "I have always seen Black as an amalgam of all other colours. I am fascinated by its extremity, the sheer sense of power it exudes. I find a colour like gray far more diluted in its appeal and negative in its implication," she claims.

Kim agrees with Anupama when she says that despite the seriousness of its subject, Bhansali's film is not sombre. "I loved Black. Though I cried throughout, the film doesn't leave you with a sense of despondency. Yes, the situation of people who are physically challenged may be difficult, but it's certainly not hopeless. Bhansali has done complete justice to the power of Black."

But it is left to catwalk queen Viveka Babajee to make a final, telling comment on her dark desires. According to her: "I grew up in an Indian family where Black was often looked upon with a lot of suspicion. Gloom, sorrow and unnamed terrors were some of the things attached to it. As I grew up, I made a few startling discoveries of my own. Since Black is a potpourri of all other colours, you need to appreciate Black in order to appreciate the world around you. Black is a great balancing factor. Just as you have to experience sadness to know what joy is, just as there can be no day without night, there can be no life, no colour without Black!"

Salma Hayek(s) Biography

Salma Hayek Biography
Profile: Salma Hayek

Full Name: Salma Hayek-Jimenez

Birth Date: September 2, 1966

Birth Place: Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico

Height: 5' 2"

Measurements: 36C-25-37

Quote: "My driving abilities from Mexico have helped me get through Hollywood."

Quote: "I act tall!" "But look how short I am...I can't even act to be tall. I'm five-two. I can't even create the illusion that I am tall!"

----------------------------------------------
Salma Hayek Biography

This beauty was born and raised in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. Her religious parents -- father of Lebanese descent, mother of Spanish descent -- wanted to ensure that their daughter would be well-educated, and sent her a Louisiana boarding school when she was 12. Sent back home for being a prankster in boarding school, Hayek finished high school and was sent to Houston to live with her aunt until the age of 17.

Once a college student in Mexico City majoring in international relations studies, Hayek finally decided to dropout (to her parents' chagrin) to pursue her childhood dream of becoming an actress.

Hayek started out doing local theater, including a role as the female lead in Aladdin and His Marvelous Lamp. Theater work eventually led to commercials, which finally led to a part a popular daytime soap called Nuevo Amanecer. Hayek was considered a goddess in Mexico for her role as Teresa in the serial of the same name. This was, however, not enough for this ambitious beauty who had set her sights on the big leagues: Hollywood.

Hayek moved to Los Angeles in 1991, a complete unknown in a city full of aspiring actors. Foreign to the English language, Hayek spent the next 18 months taking English lessons, while perfecting her acting skills with a drama teacher. Although Hayek spent four months auditioning for a leading role that finally went to another actress, the director, impressed by her determination, cast her in a smaller role in the film so that she could become a member of the Screen Actors Guild.

Her big break had finally arrived, and it was mostly thanks to her appearance on a Spanish-language cable talk show. Director Robert Rodriguez caught Hayek's appearance, and knew he had to cast her for the lead role of the sequel to his successful film El Mariachi, 1995's Desperado, opposite Antonia Banderas. Roles in Fair Game and Fled did not do the actress justice, but with Salma Hayek web sites finding their home in cyberspace and roles pouring in, audiences were sure to take notice of this Mexican beauty.

She was cast in From Dusk 'Til Dawn with George Clooney and in the 1997 comedy Fools Rush In, co-starring Matthew Perry and marking her first leading role. That same year, Hayek charmed audiences with her role as Esmeralda in a TNT rendition of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. She was no stranger to the role, as she portrayed Esmeralda in Disney's Spanish version of the film.

Hayek's film repertoire only continued to expand, with a role as a coke-sniffing dancer in 54, a tribute to the popular 70's nightclub. She also starred opposite Kevin Kline and Will Smith in last summer's big budget disappointment Wild Wild West.; the controversial Dogma, co-starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck; and she will soon be seen in The Velocity of Gary, as well as Frida, the biography of painter Frida Kahlo.
