BACKGROUNG & DESCRIPTION
The construction of the Moorish style Castle set in middle of the heart of the sunny Algarve, in excellent condition, on the top of a hill amid a grove of orange trees, with incredible 180-degree sea-view between Faro and Loule, started in 1972 and was interrupted for 4-years following the Portuguese revolution. Building has been resumed and it has not stopped since. Only 15 minutes away from Faro airport, the fabulous beaches and the renowned golf courses.
Castelo do Moinho differentiates itself from ancient one-block castles by the concept of the layout of the facilities, which allows total privacy in each self-contained accommodation. It has been designed with very generous amenities. This Castle is an original blend of fortress and palace.
From outside we see an impressive 70m long stone façade with turrets and crenulations, which reminds one of the Middle Ages and gives quite a distinctive approach. Inside, dominate the soft and peaceful alternance of yellow and pink or ochre hand made bricks, terraces, suspended gardens, colonnades and hand painted tiles which make the visitor feel like being in a world of its own; the possession of which today doubtless is an utter privilege.
