November Topic Harvest

Uber-active Lebanese blogger Daniel Akill wrote about man, death, god, war and the grave as well as man and machines and the unstable situation in Lebanon.

While Munaeem wrote that “Muslims should try to influence others by their character not by dictation" and Charles Carlson wrote an article titled “Ending Our Plague."

In “zhanggang” blog we read Greenhouse gases rising faster than UN forecasts: report. And as usual, Alexander James did his part of informing his readers of what went unreported in traditional mainstream media.

Bloggers' Talk in October

As promised, we are rounding up the discussions that took place during the month of October to enable readers to gain easy access to the posts they missed and to provide exposure to Al Bawaba Bloggers.

In October, Al Bawaba welcomed Lebanese blogger Daniel Akill, who wrote passionately about the situation in Lebanon, criticized Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Ladin, and published his commentary on news items.

Blogger Munaeem expressed his opinion on anti-semitism by quoting a CBS News article under the title "In academic circles, criticism of Israel is increasingly off-limits." While in The Imperialist Watch, blogger Bill wrote on a range of topics; from Zionist attacks on Wikipedia to the new Israeli flag in Detroit.

Also along the lines of politics, the Christian Zionism blog by Charles E. Carlson featured critique of the U.S policy of killing the wounded fighters in Fallujah and, in another piece, the author wondered "Who Is Guarding the Oil Well Guards?"

In his blog, Total Truth Sciences, Alexander James compiled a list of "unreported headlines" that he urged his readers to investigate and explore. And in a completely different domain, blog Zgang featured articles on health-related issues such as obesity and hormones, exercise, and autism.

What’s The Buzz in Al Bawaba Blogs?

Bloggers at Al Bawaba talk about a diverse range of topics every month. This diversity, we thought, should not go unrecognized. The lively discussions and the efforts invested in quality blogging must be celebrated.

Tip of the Week: Upload a Profile Picture

We pick up where we left in our “Tip of the Week” series and this week’s tip is uploading a profile picture in your blog. If you have any suggestions or tips to be included in this series, please send them to us or just leave a comment here.

A profile picture may not sound like an important thing to add to your blog. But in fact, it is very important to upload a profile picture to your blog because that helps your readers get more engaged and it makes them identify with you. It also gives them the feel that the blogger whose words they are reading is an “actual human being” just like them.

If you are an anonymous blogger and you do not want to post any pictures of yourself in your blog, you can always choose a symbolic picture that does not give away your real identity. You should, at all costs, avoid having a question mark in the space under “Profile” in your blog’s main page!

To upload a profile picture, simply access your blog’s administrative side and go to the “Settings” tab. Then go to “User Profile” and select one of the images you previously uploaded to your folders and you’re done!
