Ok,

I want to repost this old useless facts. The funny part is the comments.

Did you know..

1- If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.
(Hardly seems worth it)

2- If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.
(Now that’s more like it)

3- The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet.

4- A pig’s orgasm lasts 30 minutes.
(In my next life I want to be a pig)

5- A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death.
(Creepy) (I’m still not over the pig)

6- Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.
(Do not try this at home .. maybe at work)

7- The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male’s head off.
(”Honey, I’m home. What the….”)

8- The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It’s like a human jumping the length of a football field.

9- The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.
(What can be so tasty on the bottom of the pond?)

10- Some lions mate over 50 times a day.
(I still want to be a pig in my next life … quality over quantity.)

11- Butterflies taste with their feet.
(Something I always wanted to know)

12- The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.

13- Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people do.

14- Elephants are the only animal that cannot jump.
(OK, so that would be a good thing…)

15- A cat’s urine glows under a black light.

16- An ostrich’s eye is bigger than its brain.
(I know some people like that.)

17- Starfish have no brains.
(I know some people like that too.)

18- Polar bears are left-handed.
(Who knew…? Who cares!)

19- Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure.
(What about that pig?)

LOL

Peace

Salam,

OK, so I have been busy "doing other stuff", and almost forgot about this blog till a friend reminded me of it.

Here is the breakdown of whats been going on with my so called life.

I have one more session to finish my masters, I have gazillions of projects and exams but I think I can wing it. After 20 years of being American I have decided to retire from the States and move back to the Middle East. Although I'm doing well elhamdelah in the states but there are other things that are far valuable than money.

I'm hoping to find a job in Jordan, but if not I know I can find one in Dubai. Wow! I can't wait to get back home and see my kids play with their grandparents, that is something to watch for I guess. I miss real Arabic food, though looking at me you can tell I couldn't have been missing out food at all.

OK, I have to head to work in a minute, but I do want to talk about a certain issue in my next post and it is about Freedom of expression.

Peace

In a large skillet heat 2 teaspoon vegetable oil. Pour 1/2 cup batter into pan making small rounds. Cook until done. (DO NOT FLIP) Remove from pan and let cool. Walnut filling Mix all ingredients in a small saucepan and heat to boiling for 10 minutes. Let cool. Spoon mixture onto uncooked side of pancake rounds and fold over. Clotted cream filling Mix cream with powdered sugar and spoon onto uncooked side of pancake rounds, fold over. Syrup for drizzling Mix all ingredients and bring to a slow boil for 20 minutes. Wash lentils very well several times and drain. Fill half a medium deep pan with water, bring to boil over high heat. Add lentils, carrot, tomato, potato and garlic. Leave to boil. After 15 minutes add zucchini. When all vegetables are tender (after about 5 more minutes), pour all components of pan in a blender. Blend well then strain in a medium bowl. In a medium deep pan, heat oil or butter over medium-high heat. Stir in double cream for about 1 minute. Add strained vegetable mix, chicken broth, salt, pepper and cumin. Leave to boil for about 5 minutes. If texture of soup is thick, add more broth or water.
_____________________

Musakhan

Ingredients1 large chicken
3 tbsp. ground sumac
1 tsp. salt
Juice for lemon
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 large onion
2 tbsp. pine nuts
3 tbsp. olive oil

Rub chicken with lemon juice, season with sumac, and the other spices. Let rest for an hour. Then, mix onions, nuts and olive oil. Finally spread over chicken. Bake chicken on top of pita bread coated with oil at 400 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. You can also wrap the chicken like a chawarma and bake.
_______________________

Fatayer

Ingredients 80g butter melted
1/3 cup olive oil
1/4 cup water
2 cups plain flour
1 egg lightly beaten
Cheese Filling
1 cup grated feta cheese
1 cup white creamed cheese
2tbs chopped parsley
1tsp lemon juice

To make the cheese filling : Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. To make the pastry: Combine butter, oil and water in bowl. Add sifted flour, 1tbs at a time, stirring to a smooth paste between additions. Continue adding the flour until a soft dough is formed. Turn dough onto floured surface, knead gently until smooth. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour. Divide pastry in half; roll each half between sheets of cling film until very thin. Use a cutter or teacup. Cut circles from the pastry (you can make them bigger if you like) Drop 1 tsp of filling into the centre of each circle. Fold over and pinch edges together to seal. Place pastries on greased oven trays and brush with egg. Bake in a moderately hot oven for about 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

In Kuwait and many other countries in our region, racism and discrimination are practiced daily. Judging someone by their ethnic origins or nationality is becoming really popular in our region. People disrespect and abuse others because of their origin, religion and occupation.
Kuwait police abuse video1
Kuwait police abuse video2

Racism & Discrimination

By: Tariq Al-Nasrallahالرؤية

Racism and discrimination are acts that do not belong in this new world. In Kuwait and many other countries in our region, racism and discrimination are practiced daily. Judging someone by their ethnic origins or nationality is becoming really popular in our region. People disrespect and abuse others because of their origin, religion and occupation.

Many Kuwaitis look at the foreign workers in Kuwait as people below them. This is something not surprising since we Kuwaitis classify our own fellow citizens. The foreign workers came to Kuwait to have better jobs and also to support their families just like everybody else, they came to have a better future. We have to mention how we totally depend on the foreign workers in mostly every aspect of life. Without them we would live in a land of waste because we can’t collect our own and keep everything clean. Imagine a day in Kuwait without the foreign labor. It would be a disaster! Why do people disrespect them while they are the ones helping us? It’s an ego that was sadly built inside us from our old generation that didn’t pay attention to this important issue.

We think we are better than everybody and if we really want something, we will reach for it without paying any attention to others. Our people humiliate foreigners everyday, the young and old are participants. Not many parents would really punish or lecture their children if they committed such an act. The problem begins with families and the way they raise their children.

A big example would be the Indian community in Kuwait, since they are mostly the biggest community. Whatever his/her occupation is; Engineer, driver, maid or janitor, they are all viewed as a lower class. For the people who think in such way, you need to look into the history of their country and compare it to yours. Why are we different than others? Are we God’s gift to the human race to commit such disgusting acts?

The very sad part is that even the authority follows such mentality, abusing foreigners physically is very common. Now when I spoke with some people about this matter they seemed to be defensive, for example some said that maybe they are being abused because they committed a crime and they are to be punished in such way and worse. Would this be a justification? There is a law for every crime committed and whatever this person did, the court will look into it and decide if he/she is guilty or not. Instead of going by the law, they tend to use the jungle law where everybody can physically abuse the foreigners and the citizens think of themselves as the judge, jury and the police all in one.
Kuwait police abuse video1
Kuwait police abuse video2

Human rights are no where to be seen and anybody who thinks that a new law will give foreigners their rights is totally wrong. Sometimes strange thoughts come to my mind about our Kuwaiti racists and I ask my self if they have a different blood color, maybe blue?? We pick up many western ideas and most of them are the bad ones. Why can’t we copy them when it comes to racism and human rights? It’s a puzzle to me.

One might wonder or argue that this is not racism. The concept of discriminating against any group of people would definitely fall under racism. To start a future for our unity we must learn about our own problems and barriers. We fight each other and discriminate against ourselves. Let go of this filthy ego and habit so we can move forward to a better place where we can be proud of ourselves.

My message is to all of you who forgot humanity. Learn how to respect others no matter what their nationality or race is and they will give you back their respect. We fight for our political rights and woman rights while forgetting about our right as humans. For the sake of humanity let’s go back to what God asked us to be.

We need to address this issue and start paying attention. It’s not only about the foreigners; it’s about us Kuwaitis as well, because we do discriminate against each other too. We need to remove the idea of being above people because we have wealth. It’s a dangerous and serious issue that we need to discuss. Authorities and families, please educate your employees and children on this subject so we can have a better life for all of us.

posted by Tariq

GMAT Essay Tips

Be sure to include brief introductory and concluding paragraphs, which are consistent with each other and with the paragraphs in the body of your essay.
Your essay must at least appear to be well organized. Use transition words and phrases to help the reader follow the flow of your discussion. For ideas, check out the transitional devices I've used in my sample Analysis-of-Issue essay and sample Analysis-of-Argument essay.
Compose your introductory paragraph last—after you've completed the rest of your essay. Why? Because you essay might evolve somewhat from your initial plan; if you've composed your introduction first, you might need to rewrite it.
For every point you make in a GMAT essay, always provide a reason and/or an example to support that point!
Pay close attention to writing mechanics—grammar, sentence construction, word usage and diction (whether you've used the right word for the right job). It doesn't matter if your essay contains brilliant ideas if you can't express them. In short: It's form over substance!!
It's okay to refer to yourself in your essays—at your option. Just don't overdo it. Phrases such as "I think," "it is my opinion that" and "in my view" are superfluous and a waste of your typing time.
Don't try to impress the reader with your vocabulary. There's nothing wrong with demonstrating a strong vocabulary. Just don't overdo it; otherwise the readers will suspect that you're using big words as a smokescreen for poor content.

_________________________________________________________
2 Great Links:

1) Sahil's SC Notes

2)http://www.west.net/~stewart/gmat/qa_3.htm

TOEFL - GMAT - GRE - SAT Great site

Salam,

Here is a super Site for anyone whois planning to take the TOEFL - GMAT - GRE - SAT.

MBA preparation

Salam,

I have to study and pass the GMAT in the next 2-3 weeks Yicks!
The funny part is if everything went as planned (inshallah) my Bachelor degree final is on 12/3/2005 Graduation on 12/17/2005 and MBA classes start when?!!
Ted Turner

Salam,

I was watching David Letterman show last night, and one of his guests was Ted Turner, I was ver impressed with the interview and all what Turner has done and his attitude toward the war and how he is a peace man. Here is something Mr. Turner said:

" Ted believes good education and health care and a better standard of living is the best way to fight terrorism. Provide them with the above and they won't want to blow themselves up or go to war. He points out that the United States spends $400-500 billion a year on their military budget. The rest of the world spends the same amount. Is all that money spent on the military spent wisely? In a speech earlier this year, Ted went through a laundry list of the leading social problems around the world and the dollar cost of fixing them. For instance:-$15 billion a year for universal primary education of all children.-$4 billion a year for adult literacy-$10 billion a year for reproductive health and family planningOn and on and on Ted spelled it out in this speech. Total cost: $62 billion a year. He reminds us that the United States spends $500 billion on the military alone each year. And the U.S. wouldn't have to pay the entire $62 billion; it would be spread out across the world. "You don't stop terrorism with tanks, you stop it with hope," says Ted. Dang it, it makes sense to me. "

Then I also read this email from AL-AWDA about US aid to Israel:

Total Direct Aid to Israel Conservatively Estimated at Almost $105 Billion
By Shirl McArthur

TABLE 1. The process is simple. Eachperson will pair off with the person sitting to his or herimmediate right. As homework tonight, one of you will write the firstparagraph of a short story. You will e-mail your partner thatparagraph and send another copy to me. The partner will read thefirst paragraph and then add another paragraph to the story andsend it back, also sending another copy to me.The first person will then add a third paragraph, and so onback-and-forth. Remember to re-read what has been written eachtime in order to keep the story coherent. There is to be absolutely NO talking outside of the e-mails andanything you wish to say must be written in the e-mail. The storyis over when both agree a conclusion has been reached."The following was actually turned in by two of his Englishstudents:

Rebecca and Gary.

THE STORY:

(first paragraph by Rebecca)
At first, Laurie couldn't decide which kind of tea she wanted. The chamomile, which used to be her favorite for lazy evenings at home, now reminded her too much of Carl, who once said, in happier times, that he liked chamomile. But she felt she must now, at all costs, keep her mind off Carl. His possessiveness was suffocating, and if she thought about him too much her asthma started acting up again. So chamomile was out of the question.

(second paragraph by Gary)
Meanwhile, Advance Sergeant Carl Harris, leader of the attack squadron now in orbit over Skylon 4, had more important things to think about than the neuroses of an air-headed asthmatic bimbo named Laurie with whom he had spent one sweaty night over a year ago. "A.S. Harris to Geostation 17," he said into his transgalactic communicator. "Polar orbit established. No sign of resistance so far..." But before he could sign off a bluish particle beam flashed out of nowhere and blasted a hole through his ship's cargo bay. The jolt from the direct hit sent him flying out of his seat and across the cockpit.

(Rebecca)
He bumped his head and died almost immediately, but not before he felt one last pang of regret for psychically brutalizing the one woman who had ever had feelings for him. Soon afterwards, Earth stopped its pointless hostilities towards the peaceful farmers of Skylon 4. "Congress Passes Law Permanently Abolishing War and Space Travel," Laurie read in her newspaper one morning. The news simultaneously excited her and bored her. She stared out the window, dreaming of her youth, when the days had passed unhurriedly and carefree, with no newspaper to read, no television to distract her from her sense of innocent wonder at all the beautiful things around her. "Why must one lose one's innocence to become a woman?" she pondered wistfully.

(Gary )
Little did she know, but she had less than 10 seconds to live. Thousands of miles above the city, the Anu'udrian mothership launched the first of its lithium fusion missiles. The dim-witted wimpy peaceniks who pushed the Unilateral Aerospace disarmament Treaty through the congress had left Earth a defenseless target for the hostile alien empires who were determined to destroy the human race. Within two hours after the passage of the treaty the Anu'udrian ships were on course for Earth, carrying enough firepower to pulverize the entire planet. With no one to stop them, they swiftly initiated their diabolical plan. The lithium fusion missile entered the atmosphere unimpeded. The President, in his top-secret mobile submarine headquarters on the ocean floor off the coast of Guam, felt the inconceivably massive explosion, which vaporized poor, stupid Laurie.

(Rebecca)
This is absurd. I refuse to continue this mockery of literature. My writing partner is a violent, chauvinistic semi-literate adolescent.

(Gary)
Yeah? Well, my writing partner is a self-centered tedious neurotic whose attempts at writing are the literary equivalent of Valium. "Oh, shall I have chamomile tea? Or shall I have some other sort of F--KING TEA??? Oh no, what am I to do? I'm such an air headed bimbo who reads too many Danielle Steele novels!"

(Rebecca)
A**hole.

(Gary)
B**ch

(Rebecca)
F__K YOU - YOU NEANDERTHAL!

(Gary)
Go drink some tea - whore.

(TEACHER)
A+ - I really liked this one.

--
HiRo
Hero for Hire
www.cin3ma.tv
