The most horrific thing in Gaza

On Sept 20, 1985 I crawled inside of my first collapsed school. Three young
girls had escaped because they were in the aisles. The children who were hiding
under their desks were squashed, The horror was intensified when I heard
something and saw a shadow, in the dark. I shined my light on a huge sewer rat;
as it lifted it's face, covered in human blood, from the body of a child. It
looked me straight in the eyes with defiance..like I had no business being, in
his world, where he was king. He took off running, like a bat out of Hell, as a
fireball of anger roared out of me.
Collapsed buildings are full of sewer rats who feast upon the corpses. Can
you imagine? The most horrific thing the trapped children experience is being in
the dark and listening, to the rats, eating the bodies of their friends. If I
were to live, to be, the oldest man on earth I will never forget. I cannot pray
enough for those children.

Dear Friend:
It may surprise you to know that the
inside of a collapsed or blown-apart building is absolutely pitch black inside
even when the sun is bright and glaring outside. Tonight, I had been laying in
bed thinking about the child who finds himself inside of his blown apart home,
perhaps next to his dead parents, in the pitch black. He is thirsty,
hungry, terrified and praying for someone to save him from his nightmare. I
couldn't stop thinking about that child. I got up to write this
request.
My name is doug copp. Before, I was
injured, under the 911 rubble, trying to save lives, I was the most experienced
rescue person, in the world. The World Trade Center was the 894th collapsed
building that I had crawled into, to save lives, as an unpaid volunteer. I have
fought desperately to survive my medical problems and remain very sick with many
medical problems. I do not have my physical health or prowess; as I did, before
I was poisoned, by the toxic fumes, under the 911 rubble; however, I continue to
have my experience, knowledge and desire to save the Gaza children. This will be
my first rescue; since I was injured at 911.
I am a very lucky man. I have struggled
for 8 years to overcome my 911 injuries and yet God has granted me the ability
to forgive those who blew up the World Trade Center and were responsible for
causing my years of suffering.
Everyone is the same to me. We are all
human beings and should act accordingly. I am not responsible for what other
people do. I am only responsible for what I do.
It may seem strange to some and I
expect to receive death threats, hatred and abuse... for my humanitarian way of
life; like I have many times before. I try to keep a clean heart, be faithful to
God and to consider myself to 'work for the victim who is buried alive' in
everything I do.
Personally, I can think of no finer way
to continue my life than to save these buried alive and terrified victims and
should God grant me the help I need to go to Gaza and I fail; then I can think
of no better way to die; than to be blown up or squashed, trying to save that
child.
Let me be clear, I am not pro
Palestinian and I am not pro Israeli. I am pro humanity. I need help to get the
proper visas and transportation for myself and 2 other international volunteers
to get into Gaza. I personally have American and Canadian citizenship from
birth; however, I have never asked to see a passport of a victim before I saved
them. Myself and another member will come from Canada and another from
Argentina.
I ask you: if I am willing to go into
this living hell of a nightmare and crawl into the rubble while bombs are being
dropped will you help me and my other 2 International rescuers, if you can, to
get into those collapsed buildings...by whatever means are necessary.
I am sending this email to people who
should care; with the expectation that our request will eventually get into the
hands of someone who can 'make this happen.'
I only want 2 or 3 persons to be with me on this. I plan to mobilise and
train a hundred or more Palestinians to be our team. I have done this many times
before with people from many cultures, speaking many languages, with skills of
all types and kinds but all working together for one purpose and with one
heart.
