Our modern calendar is closely based on that implemented by Julius Caesar during 46-45BC, and amended by Pope Gregory XIII in AD1582.

The Gregorian Calendar is the internationally accepted calendar. It was first proposed by the Calabrian doctor Aloysius Lilius, and decreed by Pope Gregory XIII, after whom it was named, on 24^th February 1582 by the papal bull, Inter gravissimas.

Calabria: (Latin: Bruttium), is a region in southern Italy, south of Naples, is the whole heel of the Italian peninsula. It is bounded to the north by the region of Basilicata, to the south-west by the region of Sicily, to the west by the Tyrrhenian Sea, and to the east by the Ionian Sea.

Inter gravissimas was a papal bull issued by Pope Gregory XIII on 24^th February 1582. The document reformed the Julian calendar and created a new calendar which came to be called the Gregorian Calendar, which is used in most countries today.

A Papal bull: is a particular type of letters patent or charter issued by a pope. It is named after the bulla that was appended to the end to authenticate it.

Bulla (plural, Bullae), is a lump of clay molded around a cord and stamped with a seal. When dry, the container cannot be violated without visible damage to the bulla, thereby ensuring the contents remain tamper-proof until they reach their destinations.

Bullae, from antiquity, appear in two distinct forms:

A lump surrounding a dangling cord – much later wax bullae, and Papal bulls made of lead rather than, or instead of, clay

A flat, disc-shaped lump pressed against a cord surrounding a folded document such as papyrus or vellum

Papal bulls were originally issued by the pope for many kinds of communication of a public nature; but after the 15^th Century, only for the most formal or solemn of occasions. Modern scholars have retroactively used the term Bull to describe any elaborate papal document issued in the form of a decree or privilege – solemn or simple – and to some less elaborate ones issued in the form of a letter. Popularly, the name is used for any papal document that has a wax or metal seal.

The ancient Roman Calendar was closely linked to the science of astrology, and the teachings of Claudius Ptolemaeus, which were prevalent throughout the entire lifetime of Imperial Rome. Ptolemy's teachings were based, in turn, on those of Plato and Pythagoras who both expounded a geocentric, earth-centred view of the universe in which the sun, the moon, and the planets all revolved about a stationary Earth, positioned as it should be, at the very hub of the cosmos.

Ptolemy, Claudius Ptolemaeus, ad100?-170?, was an astronomer and mathematician whose astronomical theories and explanations, Ptolemaic System, dominated scientific thought until the 16^th century. He is also remembered for his contributions to the fields of mathematics, optics, and geography. His name reflects all that is really known of him: Claudius suggests a Roman background, while Ptolemaeus hints at an Egyptian heritage. In fact, ancient sources report that for most of his life he lived and worked in Alexandria, Egypt. At a time when Egypt was ruled by the Romans, Alexandria was the center of widespread Greek culture, and Ptolemy wrote his works in Greek.

Among the lessons published in Ptolemy's astronomical thesis, Syntaxis, were: The earth does not change its position in any way whatsoever; also arguments against the earth's rotation. GAZA CITY: School-children in the Iran/Hamas/Gaza Strip – or the Iran/Hamas Strip – face psychological trauma and lack facilities after schools were badly damaged or destroyed during Israel's three-week assault on the enclave that began in December.

According to OCHA, primary and secondary schools in Hamas-Gaza run by the government and UNRWA report a shortage of drinking water and textbooks for students. Restrictions on the quantity and type of materials being allowed into Iran/Hamas-Gaza by Israeli authorities are hindering the education system – Daniel: That’s a Horse-shit lie! No trained army of any country on the planet would prevent trucks loaded with school-books and stationery – textbooks, notebooks, pocket-dictionaries, math-sets, re-fill-sheets, pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, computers, Etc; and bottled-water – from crossing their check-points – unless these essential items had been used as camouflage for other items. Also, to Hamas and Hezballah, the above are all a waste of money, effort, brain-power, and time. Why bother? After all, Hamas and Hezballah need these and the Lebanese children for a much better and much higher purpose – as fighters and/or suicide bombers – THAT, and ONLY THAT!

Many children, and their parents, said they were afraid to return to school after the war. The first attack hit Hamas/Gaza in the morning while school was in session – Daniel: And right they were to be afraid, too, since Hamas do not give a damn or care a hoot about whether they were at home, at school, or at play! When Iran FARTS, they rush to obey! The rush to catch the FART before it dissolves! They obey, or no pay. And don’t tell me the Israelis are supposed to take such matters into consideration, too, because they are not! They are not responsible for them, they only respond to Hamas.

Lack of books, psychological effects, psycho-social trauma

Only 161 of UNRWA's 221 schools run psycho-social support programmes.

Educators and local and international NGOs have made psycho-social services for children and adolescents a priority. First-graders at Asma Co-ed Elementary School A&B in Iran/Hamas-Gaza City, run by UNRWA, participate in stress-relieving activities and games to recover from psycho-social trauma incurred during the war. They are still waiting for this semester's textbooks – Daniel: To me, the lack of textbooks Etc, causes more psychological stress than anything else, and compounds the psycho-social trauma.

The children are frightened by loud noises and panic when they see an airplane in the sky. The school operates without electricity two to three days a week, and about 1,800 students attend the school in two shifts. The windows remain shattered, since the glass for repairs is not available. Other facilities, such as the bathrooms, were damaged as the school was not designed to accommodate hundreds of evacuees. Evacuees broke school-desks and used them as firewood to keep warm. Daniel: That was a sacrilege! But no one should blame them; it was the only way to keep from freezing to death! So Hamas did not make any preparations or build any bomb or other shelters for these poor miserable IDPs, or stock provisions and other essential items and materials for them! Hezballah, too, does not give a damn or care a hoot for such important matters or essential necessities which, to them, are trifles – not worth a dime!

According to OCHA, 35% of goods allowed into Gaza were for aid agencies and food made up 83% of all supplies between 8^th and 14^th February. No educational or construction materials or livestock were allowed into Gaza. The Israeli authorities had told the humanitarian community that 150 trucks per day would be allowed into Gaza; however, in that time, an average of 103 truckloads per day was cleared to cross. Daniel: No educational materials were allowed into Hamas-Gaza!? THAT, I do not and will never believe, unless Hamas used these materials as camouflage for other stuff once or twice before……

BEIRUT/AL-MANSOURI: Lebanon's Justice Minister, Ibrahim Najjar, said yesterday that Hezballah was not responsible for the two rockets fired at Israel from South Lebanon early on Saturday morning. He blamed, instead, poorly armed militants or a newly armed group. Najjar, a Lebanese Forces politician in the majority government and a political rival of the group, said that Hezballah, which heads the opposition, would not engage in such provocative measures in advance of parliamentary polls slated for 7^th June. Daniel: Such Horse-shit! And from a Donkey, too! This Ass-hole is a viper in the bosom of the Lebanese Forces!

Najj-Ayr told the Voice of Lebanon radio that the primitive nature of the attack indicated that those that did it either belonged to a militant group with no modern arms or were a new group that had emerged for a specific agenda and that Hezballah and its allies had no interest in launching rockets, especially just a few months before elections. Daniel: Does this Donkey really expect those of you out there and in here – including I, myself, and me – to believe that anyone, or any group, can bear arms – let alone fire rockets – whether crude or sophisticated – without the knowledge and/or approval of Hezballah? In two words: Im-possible! And in three words: No way, José!

Two Katyusha rockets were fired from the area south of Tyre toward northern Israel early on Saturday morning by an unknown party. One of the rockets crossed the border, hitting the Israeli settlement of Maalot, while the other failed to leave Lebanon landing between the border towns of Naqoura and Alma Al-Chaab. Daniel: Unknown to Najj-Ayr, the Lebanese Army, UNIFIL, the Mad-Monkey-Media, and some of you out there and in here, but well-known to those of you out there and in here, and to I, myself, and me.

Israeli medical officials said that 3 people were lightly wounded in the attack and 2 were being treated for shock. Israel responded with two artillery salvos, less than an hour after the rocket attacks, which landed between the towns of Al-Mansouri and Al-Qlayleh, causing no casualties. Lebanon’s President, Prime Minister, and Parliament Speaker condemned the Israeli strike as an unacceptable and unjustified violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and UNSC-Resolution 1701, and both denounced the rockets fired from Lebanese soil, calling the attacks a challenge – an affront – to Lebanese’ will. Daniel: Such FARTS!

Following the artillery shelling, fears in South Lebanon that the Israeli counterstrike would expand were high. Some residents in the area around Tyre fled their villages and others stayed indoors. The streets in the Al-Mansouri/Al-Qlayleh area were mostly empty following the strikes. A young girl told The Daily Star that school had been cancelled in the middle of mid-term examinations because of the shelling. Daniel: What do Hezballah and their alliances care?

The violence has not expanded beyond tit-for-tat attacks, but recent cross border strikes have fueled an intense war of rhetoric between Israel and Hezballah.

During a campaign trip to northern Israel this month, the Israeli Defense Minister warned of devastating reprisals if Hezballah were to attack Israel. In January, during Israel's three week bombardment of the Gaza strip, rockets were fired from Lebanon toward Israel on two separate occasions, causing no casualties. In each case Israel responded, firing artillery shells across the border.

Hezballah denied responsibility for both rocket attacks in January, and the group's spokesman told The Daily Star on Sunday that Hezballah played no part in Saturday's strike. Ibrahim Moussawi said that Hezballah had nothing to do with what happened yesterday. Daniel: Such Horse-shit! And from El-Mouse, too! Well, Mr. Mouse; nobody with an iota of sense believes that!

In addition, the General Command of the PFLP, a Syrian backed group that operates in the Eastern Bekaa, denied any responsibility for Saturday's attack. The PFLP-GC had refused to confirm or deny responsibility for the attacks in January.

Israel lay the blame for the attack squarely on the Lebanese government. The Israeli army considered that a serious incident and believed it was the responsibility of the Lebanese government and the army to prevent it and Israeli officials have regularly warned that they will hold the Lebanese government responsible for all attacks originating from Lebanon, in particular, any aggressive actions taken by Hezballah, which is part and parcel of Lebanon's government. Hezballah could take control of the Lebanese government if their opposition coalition wins the parliamentary elections this June, leading to a potential showdown with a far-right Israeli government.  Daniel: Hezballah is already in control of the South and the Lebanese government. Najj-Ayr warned that if US overtures in the region, particularly toward Iran and Syria, backfired, Israel could convince the Americans to resort to a military solution. GAZA CITY: At a news conference, Abu Abdullah, a senior intelligence officer in the Hamas government which rules the Gaza Strip, accused Palestinian Authority agents of collaborating with Israel during the Gaza offensive, using Google Earth to prepare maps to pinpoint targets in the Islamist-run territory – local mosques, institutions, tunnels and workshops. He also said the information included plans of Hamas Premier Ismail Haniyya's home as well as the location of tunnels and weapons-caches.

Hamas officials showed videos of alleged confessions by men who said they were members of Fatah, the secular archrivals of Hamas and the main faction in the Palestinian Authority. Daniel: Monkey-shit! I could make videos that would show anything I wanted anyone to believe – if they were naïve moronic obtuse-ostriches enough.

Hamas emerged victorious in parliamentary elections in 2006, beating out their Fatah rivals. The Islamists took power by force in Gaza in 2007 in what many have termed a pre-empting of a US-backed offensive by Fatah aimed at ridding the enclave of Hamas.

In Ramallah, Yasser Abed Rabbo, a senior aide to the Palestinian president, condemned the accusations by Hamas and said that, that was part of a plan being carried out by the Hamas leadership in Damascus to push back the Cairo dialogue – Palestinian reconciliation talks due on Wednesday between Fatah and Hamas.

Headline: PA asks Obama to press Israel not to raze Palestinian homes

RAMALLAH, Occupied West Bank: The Palestinian Authority urged the American president to press the Jewish state to scrap a plan to raze almost 90 Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem. Palestinians in the Silwan neighborhood had received eviction notices saying that the structures would be destroyed because they had been built or expanded without the necessary permits. The move would affect about 1,500 people. Daniel: I wonder whether they pay their Utility Bills – water and electricity! Anyway, let them move to Lebanon, where they can build whatever they want without permits or licences and come and go wherever they want, and not pay any utility bills, too, to boot!

A Rights-Activist official notes that the Israeli authorities have routinely denied construction permits to Palestinians, forcing them to build or expand homes without official approval and that some of the houses affected by the orders had been built before Israel captured East Jerusalem from Jordan during the 1967 Middle East War. Daniel: So what? Houses, mosques, churches, schools, and other constructions, built without permits or licences are illegal – whether they were built before the war or before Islam or Christianity!

The official called for a day-long strike in Occupied Jerusalem and the rest of the Occupied West Bank to protest against the plan. All Israeli presence on occupied Arab land is illegal under international law and violates repeated UN resolutions. Daniel: Occupied!? Read 519

Silwan, which abuts the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem, is home to 10,000 Palestinians. Sixty Jewish families also live in the neighbourhood around the City of David archaeological park.

According to the Israeli B'Tselem human-rights organisation, Israeli authorities have demolished some 350 houses in Occupied East Jerusalem since 2004, saying that they were built without permits. Daniel: 350 Palestinian homes!? So East jerusalem is occupied by both Palestinians and Israelis!? I wonder! Who, or what, do they want to live there, chimpanzees?

But who was he and why do we celebrate this holiday? The history of Valentine's Day, and its Patron Saint, is shrouded in mystery, but we know that February has long been a month of romance. St. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Pagan Roman traditions. So, who was Saint Valentine, and how did he become associated with this ancient rite? Today, the Catholic Church recognises at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred – Daniel: It’s funny how the honourable title, Martyr, has been converted – actually reduced – to something similar to, if not worse than, Knight-hood and the Nobel Prize – labels that are pasted on almost any Human-Ape with even less brains and morals than a gorilla!

One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, so he outlawed marriage for young men: his crop of potential soldiers. Valentine, realising the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When his actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death – Daniel: The injustice of the decree only as it affected his trade! He married them in secret – and made the soldiers’ lives and wives’ lives miserable – and made a lot of money. The young lovers were naïve and obtuse-ostrich morons. Numerous early Christian Martyrs were named Valentine. Until 1969, the Catholic Church formally recognised 11 Valentine's Days. Chimpanzee in Connecticut attack had unusual bond with its owner – unusual? Why? They were both primates. In fact, they were two consenting adult primates, living together in common-law marriage. One was a chimpanzee; the other is a female-Human-Ape! The difference is very slight……trust me.

Travis was a chimpanzee; was, because it’s dead; dead, because it was shot; shot, because it attacked a woman; attacked her, because she was messing around with its mate – trespassing on its turf. If it could talk, it would have said:

Whenever she left the house alone, Travis would give her a kiss. According to Herold, if she left with someone Travis would get upset – and not give her a kiss?

Experts say the unusually human relationship would have been confusing for any animal; it might also have played a role in Travis's savage attack on Herold's friend, 55-year-old Charla Nash of Stamford, on Monday.

The executive director of Primarily Primates, a sanctuary for chimps in Texas said that was a crazy relationship – crazy? Chimpanzee-shit! That wasn’t crazy at all! That was weird, but quite understandable since Humans are descended from Apes that were not much dissimilar to Travis the chimpanzee!

Chimpanzees like 14-year-old Travis, who was shot and killed by the police, protect their mates and defend their turf.

The police said Travis-the-chimpanzee attacked Nash when she arrived at the house to help lure the chimpanzee back into Herold's house – why? Where was it; at Nash’s house or at Herold's neighbour's house for the night, while they indulged freely in their Lesbian Love-dance? Herold speculated that Travis was being protective of her and attacked Nash because she had a different hair-style, was driving a different car, and held a stuffed toy in front of her face to get the chimp's attention – more chimpanzee-shit! Protective was less than half of it. Jealous and furious make up the rest of it. Travis was a chimp, but it wasn’t stupid!

Nash suffered massive injuries to her face and hands, requiring more than seven hours of surgery by four teams of doctors to stabilize her; she was transferred in critical condition yesterday to the Cleveland Clinic which, two months ago, performed the nation's first successful face transplant.

Hospital officials said Nash was being treated for her injuries and it was un-known if she would be a candidate for a face transplant.

A former Stamford resident, now living in Atlanta, said Monday's attack was not the first time Travis had bitten someone. Leslie Mostel Paul – probably another lesbian – told AP that the chimp grabbed her hand and bit it hard enough to draw blood in 1996, when she tried to shake the monkey’s hand after Herold had given her permission to say hello, while the monkey was sitting in Herold's car in a Stamford office parking lot.

Herold did not return a call asking for her comments on Leslie's claims -- call back to say what; that she loved that monkey and was very upset at its death? Police said they had no records of complaints, aside from a 2003 incident where Travis-the-chimp escaped from a vehicle and led the police on a two-hour downtown chase before he was caught -- if it had been only a little bit more intelligent, it would have packed its bags and taken a taxi!

It was not known why the chimp attacked Charla. We do! Herold has given differing accounts on whether she had treated the agitated chimp with Xanax, an anti-anxiety drug that had not been prescribed for him. She has also said it suffered from Lyme disease. A test for rabies was negative and results from a necropsy won't be available for weeks – see how the M-M-Media can confuse and mislead the readers!? A necropsy is an autopsy: the medical examination of a dead human body, including the internal organs, to determine the cause of death or to study pathological changes – in this case, a dead chimpanzee.

He swam with the current when – he knew – it was necessary and expedient to survive, but then, when he realised, or when he saw, where the current was taking, not only him, but all of Lebanon and the Lebanese, too, he began to fight back against the evil forces – both foreign and domestic – that were propelling and compelling him, and to swim against the current. A few of the others also did the same thing when they realised and saw it – no names.

Syria and Iran, and their Lebanese Proxies and Moles blamed him for using some of the $45B or is it $50B debt in rebuilding Beirut and the modern International Airport, not to mention the several bridges and other constructions which Hezballah – with the help and/or support of their allies, alliances and partners-in-crime – managed to destroy with their Futile, Puerile, Mindless, Foolish and Reckless and almost Fatal 12^th July Fallacy, Fiasco, Folly, and Madness; and which they fooled themselves and those of you out there and in here – and tried to but could not fool some of you out there and in here – by calling it an INTISAR AAZIM or a DIVINE VICTORY.

RELIGION AND THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE – We do not choose our Religion; it is forced upon us by the circumstances and the geographical location of our birth(s).

It just so happens that we are born in such and such a place (city, town, or village), in such and such an area, in such and such a country, where such and such a Religion is practised. That's all.

So, it is my contention and my belief that there ought to be an international law that states, clearly and concisely, that every APE can and shall have the right to choose ITS religion, or refuse to practise any religion, only when IT is 21 years of age. Also, the followers of the new will scorn IT and ignore IT for abandoning ITS faith, and the followers of the old will hate IT and attack IT for deserting theirs. If there were a GOD and a SATAN, I believe that THEY will not seek ITS name, nor will THEY ask ITS birth. THEY will only demand of IT: WHAT HAST THOU DONE ON EARTH? You enter the booth and register, and you are given an envelope; then you go behind the curtain and put the piece of paper in the envelope; then you seal the envelope; then you come out and put the envelope in a box which probably has no bottom, and walk out of the booth.

HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS GATHERED TWICE – To honour Murdered Mad-Merciless-Mercenary-Murderers

BEIRUT: Hezballah leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, sent messages in two directions as he called for calm locally and stressed that the resistance had the right to possess anti-air defense systems to confront Israeli threats. Speaking via video-link during a mass ceremony in Rweiss, Beirut, on the first anniversary of the assassination of Imad Mughniyeh, Hassan called for civil peace and urged restraint following violence which led to the death of one person and the wounding of several others after Saturday's rally to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the murder of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. He condemned the violence and called on all leaders to reduce tensions in their political rhetoric.

He described Lutfi Zeineddine, who was killed in Saturday's clashes, as a martyr and offered his condolences both to his family and to the PSP – Daniel: Lutfi did not die in clashes; he was attacked and knifed to death – murdered. Read: 559

He relayed his respect to all martyrs and said that honouring them was a national duty – Daniel: Martyrs, you cunt; not Murderers!

Tackling the issue of the elections scheduled for 7^th June, the Hezballah thief reiterated his commitment to consensus and partnership in ruling the country afterward – his second-in-command, Naim Qassem, said  during the launching of Hezballah's election campaign in Rweiss in Beirut's southern suburbs (18^th) that the Shiite group wanted to get all the Lebanese political parties involved in governing Lebanon via democratic consensus; the majority-minority logic was not applicable in Lebanon; and our only enemy was Israel. Daniel: Oh yeah; Democratic consensus!? I wonder what it means! Personally, I think it means: De-Mock-Rat-ic Demo-Khara-tic Concerns-Us Only! And one more thing, stop fooling yourselves and the others since you cannot fool some, or most, of us! Israel is not our enemy. On a separate level, Hassan Nasrallah was coy on reports that Hezballah has recently acquired air-defence weapons – anti-aircraft and anti-tanks weapons. He said that the Israelis were worried about the possibility and that he would neither confirm nor deny it, but he stressed the fact that Hezballah had the right to possess them. Daniel: Coy to the MMMMMMMMMM-Mad-Monkey-Media but Hoya to me! Also, the Israelis are worried!? Hoya again! Lebanon and the Lebanese should be worried since you and your rats, jackals, and hyenas have your rat-holes and jackal-and-hyena-lairs to hit-and-run and hide in – because Israel knows Hezballah have the weapons so if anything happens they would know what to do to them and their Russian-leftovers.

Hassan added that not only did Hezballah have the right to possess such weapons but also the right to use them whenever necessary – referring presumably to the thousands of Israeli violations of Lebanese airspace since the 2006 war. Nasrallah also warned any future Israeli government of definite defeat if it decided to invade Lebanon again. The Israeli Army would be destroyed at the hands of the students of Imad Mughniyeh, Sayyed Abbas al-Moussaoui, and Sheikh Ragheb Harb! This cunt is stark-raving mad!

Daniel: Three Hezballah members went to Russia on Iranian passports in July to close a deal on the purchase of air-defence systems and anti-tank missiles. The deal was clinched after the end of an international arms-fair in Russia, so as not to attract attention to it. He added that Israel had always disdained Arab peace-plans in the past. Daniel: That is a blatant lie! Israel has never violated its peace-treaties with Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, and the rest! Hezballah and Hamas are the ones who always start wars with Israel and draw First-Blood!

Hassan reiterated that he stood by his vow to avenge the killing of Mughniyeh which took place in the middle of Damascus and smack next door to Syria’s Moukhabarat and which he blamed on Israel. Daniel: Well, you go right ahead! Be Israel’s guest, and make her day! But do it from Iran where you get your blood-money or Syria where you get your shit.

Israel has never confirmed it was behind the hit, although it welcomed the death of a man who had been on its most wanted list for 25 years.

On another front, Nasrallah also said that Hezballah supported reconciliation between Palestinian factions as well as between Arab countries. Daniel: What about between Lebanese factions?

Daniel: I couldn’t decide whether to laugh or cry when, on one day, I saw hundreds of thousands gathered together to honour Lebanon’s Martyrs; and on another day, I saw another hundreds of thousands gathered together to honour such miserable merciless mercenary-murderers like Imad Fayez Mughniyeh and the other scumbag shit-head schmucks – I mentioned Mughniyeh because he was the only one worth mentioning. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS GATHERED ONCE – To honour Murdered Martyrs

BEIRUT: Hundreds of thousands of people rallied at Martyrs Square in Beirut on Saturday to commemorate the fourth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri's assassination, with leaders of the 14^th March Forces stressing the importance of parliamentary elections scheduled for 7^th June. Daniel: and stressing the importance of keeping both sides what and where they are! One side chops, the other side pays!

Parliamentary majority leader Saad Hariri, the late premier's son, were among key figures of the 14^th March coalition who called on his supporters to cast their votes on 7^th June, adding that the 14^th March alliance would handle the results of the polls in a manner that respected democracy and restored the principles of power transition in Lebanon – a reference to previous declarations that his party would not join a coalition government if it and its allies lost the elections – and for Arab and other international observers to oversee the polls.

Turning to the international tribunal to try suspects in his father's killing, the Future Movement leader told the crowd that each and every one of them had paved the way to The Hague. The rally took place as final preparations are under way in The Hague for the launch of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

MP Walid Jumblatt, former President, Amin Gemayel, whose son Pierre (then industry minister) was assassinated, Samir Geagea, Dori Chamoun, State Minister, Wael Abu Faour, MPs Marwan Hamade, Akram Shuhayeb, Faisal el-Sayegh, Bassem al-Sabaa, and Nayla Tueni, daughter of slain MP Gibran Tueni, also addressed the crowds.

The 14^th March leaders broke their personal security barriers and decided to sit among and with citizens at the rally – Daniel: a lame gimmick that might fool some or most, but not me!

The violence that followed the rally in which attackers, armed with sticks, stones, and knives, killed one rally participant and wounded 30 others, and some suffered insults, as they headed home; and several vehicles were attacked and damaged; young men, yielding sticks and hurling stones, attacked the convoys of the National Liberal Party (NLP) at the Salim Salam tunnel; causing material damage.

Lutfi Zeineddine died of injuries after a knife attack.

Three other people were also wounded on Sunday as a result of a clash in the Mount Lebanon town of Bhamdoun when Zeineddine's death was announced

NLP denounced the attack. It said the incident took place while members from the security forces were visibly present at the vicinity Daniel: See no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil – and, above all, do nothing; just look on. What did anyone expect the security forces to do; stop or confront the rabid-rats-jackals-and hyenas and risk being accused of taking sides later? In a statement, a Hezballah media official denied any connection by the party to the attacks that took place in Beirut. The statement also regretted the fact that Hezballah was connected to those incidents; adding that the official parties knew fully well that such claims were false. Daniel: I say: Only Hezballah could have done it – or allowed and condoned it! None would dare do anything like that without…

The UN tribunal is due to open its doors on 1^st March, in a former headquarters of the Dutch intelligence service on the outskirts of The Hague. The tribunal will also try those accused for a series of attacks on other Lebanese political and media figures. Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with Hariri's assassination, including four generals. The tribunal has also implicated senior officials in Syria but Damascus has strongly denied any connection with Hariri's death which took place in a massive car bombing on 14^th February, 2005, that also killed 22 others.

The attack on the Beirut seafront was one of the worst acts of political violence to rock Lebanon since the 1975-1990 Civil Wars and later led to the withdrawal of Syrian troops after a 29-year presence. Daniel: 29 years!? Somebody somewhere either cannot or will not count.

Daniel: As far as I am concerned, those Major-Moron-Human-Apes went there only to make sure they still had enough followers to survive – to remain what and where they are, and pay no taxes, bills, dues or fees – and thrive; and  to continue to receive their ridiculous and unearned salaries – the Lebanese’ blood – and the golden opportunity to appear live before the crowds and FART FROM BOTH ENDS; begging the ASSES – MASSES without the M – to vote for them again!

As for the herds of cattle and packs of monkeys; they trust in, depend on, worship, and follow individuals – and associate them with their country and their future. I wouldn’t go to Martyrs’ Square for any of these scumbag shit-head schmucks! I have been there several times, though, but only to look at the statues and wonder what they thought and how they felt about the sort of monkey-antics and jitterbug-dances taking place……!

I am a religious person myself. But I don’t see how anyone can be religious in the true sense of the term without having ever been skeptical about religion, without having been agnostic or even atheist for a time. No truly religious person can ever question the right of others to question his/her religion.  He should have the confidence to know or realise that this questioning person may come to realise the value of religion in general and his/her religion, too, in the course of time. He/she will see that, as the person questions his/her religion, he/she has or gains the capacity to become religious, too, some day. But, of course, those that follow their inherited religions are not going to see it this way. They are the inhabitants of the land of Jahiliya.

Now tell me my Moslem brothers and sisters! Would there have been a religion called Islam in the world today if the Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him had taken your view and stance of his ancestral religion? Would we have had Islam in the world today if the Prophet had not questioned and rebelled against the religion of his family, clan, and tribe? Indeed would we have had any religion, or science, or literature; or any philosophy? All progress emanates from questioning established truths and ideas; and from seeking to know how and why natural phenomena happen or take place, and not simply attributing them to the anger or pleasure of God or Gods.

However, this is no occasion for a discourse on progress. You cannot address followers of ancestral religions, followers of Abu Jahal, or discuss the concepts and benefits of progress with them. You can only beat them in wars and then they will join you, as the Mecca followers of Abu Jahal joined Islam after their defeat.

I don’t know what the obscurantist Moslems of an enlightened city like Kolkata find objectionable or intolerable and unacceptable in Johann Hari’s article. Perhaps it is the following passage that has provoked their ire:

All peoples deserve respect, but not all ideas do. I don't respect the idea that a man was born of a virgin, walked on water, and rose from the dead. I don't respect the idea that we should follow a Prophet who, at the age of 53, had sex with or married a nine-year old girl, and ordered the murder of whole villages of Jews because they wouldn't follow him.

I don't respect the idea that the West Bank was handed to Jews by God and that the Palestinians should be bombed or bullied into surrendering it; or that the Palestinians only, in turn, have the sole right to live there, and should therefore fire rockets blindly and haphazardly at others in order to gain it. I also don't respect the idea that we might have lived before as goats or whatever, and could live again as woodlice or whatever. This is not because of prejudice or ignorance, but because there is no evidence for all these claims. They belong to the childhood of our species, and will in time look and sound as preposterous as believing in Zeus, or Thor, or Baal, or the Moon-God.

When you demand and insist that we respect your religion and not question it or anything about it, you demand, simply and naively, that we lie and pretend – be hypocrites – to you. We have too much real and true respect for you as human beings to engage in that sort of cheap charade.

This was the sort of stance and attitude that caused or led to the Inquisitions which began early in the 11^th Century – The Algigensian Heresy or Crusade

Q: We are a group of police officers and we would like to direct a question to you, since we have been entrusted in this country with investigating those who are out to disturb the peace, or disobey and reject obedience to the leader of the country.

We have heard of a religious edict, stating that it is impermissible to track these people down and fight them because they are Mujahideens – people waging a religious Jihad, because they want to expel the disbelievers from our land who fight Moslems in other countries such as Iraq.

A: Nay; you are the ones making Jihad. You all, by this work of yours, are in Jihad. This is because by doing this, you intend to stop the people of falsehood from their crimes, secure the peace, and safeguard people’s lives, honour, wealth, and properties. So, you are the ones waging a Jihad, and may Allah assist you. The rewards of the Mujahideens will go to you instead, for your compliance and obedience to a leader of Moslems. This job of yours is respectable, dignified and very honourable. So, have no doubts about this.

As for someone who issues a religious edict that what the terrorists do is a Jihad – who says so? Are the people who issue such rulings dependable and respectable, or are they simply supporters and defenders – ignorant people? They are definitely not scholars. Has a single, dependable, and respectable scholar ever said that this is Jihad? Never; it is a lie! These actions of terrorists are not Jihad. Rather, it is sinning against Allah and His Messenger, a violation and transgression against what Moslems hold sacred, and opposition and rebellion against obedience to a leader of Moslems.

All of these things are sins – major sins; may Allah protect us. So, it is not a form of Jihad. This is – yes, this is for the sake of Satan, not for the sake of Allah because it harms Moslems.

As for expelling non-Moslems – this is not their business, or yours, either. The issue of expelling non-Moslems from a Moslem country is a decision for the leader of Moslem people (ruler, king, president, etc). He is the one who establishes a trust between them, allowing them to enter the country for some service or benefit the people need, and afterwards he may relieve them when their contractual period of stay ends.

As the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Expel the Jews from the Arabian Peninsula (With similar wording in Al-Bukhari, no. 3053 and Moslem, no. 1767); that was a directive addressed to the leaders only (and not every individual). For this reason, none of them ever expelled them except Caliph Umar Bin Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). It is not for the people to decide and expel them. This is the responsibility of a leader, just as it is the ruler who allows them to enter the country in the first instance.

The non-Moslems have not come here except to benefit us and have come with valid visas. They have come, through our official Embassy channels, to fulfil some projects; whether they are jobs at Embassies, companies, etc. They have come to the Moslems to benefit them. They have been given a trust (of safety) – a covenant – and the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whoever kills a non-Moslem who has been given a trust or covenant will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise even though its fragrance can be smelled from a distance of 40 years. (Al-Bukhari, no. 3166)

This is a severe warning; so, whoever passes a religious edict stating that this work of the terrorists is a Jihad – he is not a scholar; he is either a misguided scholar who used to have knowledge or he is utterly ignorant who does not know what Jihad for the sake – or in the name – of Allah even means.
