Thousands of supporters mobbed Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan while the Palestinian Hamas Movement hailed his courageous stand after he had stormed out of a debate on the Gaza war with Israel's president.

Jubilant followers of Erdogan waved Turkish and Palestinian flags as he arrived at Istanbul airport just hours after marching off the stage in front of Israeli President, Shimon Peres, and UN chief, Ban Ki-moon, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the night before. He made the front pages of newspapers across Europe and the Middle East, but Peres's office rejected claims by Turkish officials that the Israeli president had apologised.

Turkey is one of Israel's rare allies in the Moslem world but Erdogan was a fierce critic of the Jewish state's 22-day military onslaught on Hamas-ruled Gaza that left more than 1,300 Palestinians dead.

He complained that Peres had been given more time to speak than other members of the Davos panel discussing the Gaza war. He also criticised the international audience for applauding the veteran Israeli leader's emotional defence of the offensive aimed at halting Hamas rocket attacks. The Islamist-rooted Turkish leader, who has sought a peacemaker's role in the Middle East conflict said that Israel had carried out barbarian actions in Gaza before he stormed out – Daniel: Hamas are the barbarians for doing what they did to the poor innocent Palestinians of Gaza and only because they were ordered to by Iran – Read: 504 then 490 / 491 / 497 / 498 / 499 / 500 / 501 / 502 / 503

Peres, a Nobel Peace-Prize winner, said Israel had no choice and, pointing his finger at a visibly agitated Erdogan, said that Turkey would have done the same if rockets had fallen on Istanbul every night.

Erdogan said he was not a diplomat but a politician at heart – Daniel: This is pure Turkish Monkey-shit! What’s the difference between a diplomat and a politician? They both say what they do not mean, and do not mean what they say.

Erdogan later stressed that his move was not against Peres but the president of the session who had interrupted him.

The Turkish army, which has a series of cooperation accords with the Israeli military, signalled that close relations would continue, stressing national interests -- Daniel: I've known that all along. No country, especially Turkey, is going to put its cock and balls on the line for the Pathetic and Predictable Palestinians -- well-known for their strong tendency to attack their hosts, bite the hands that feed them, and attempt to take over their homes! Despite the hero's welcome from party supporters, Erdogan came under fire from the opposition and foreign policy experts, who accused him of casting Turkey as a Hamas supporter and dealing a blow to ties with Israel.

Erdogan stormed out of a debate he knew would force him to admit to what he did not want to, and which was the fact that all that had taken place, and the dire condition and plight of the Palestinians, in Gaza was the sole faylt of Iran-Hamas – not because he knew it wasn't true but, because he knew it was. By storming out, he avoided falling into the trap, saved his face, and became a hero to the Naive-Obtuse-Ostrich-Moron-Moelem-Arabs! Hey! Back off! They know themselves!

Of course, it will be back to good relations with Israel and business as usual......later.

In short, he stormed out of the debate into the headlines and the Lime-light, and plunged into the sewers.

The priest or guru gained not a little gold and not a little prestige, and paved the way for many more such wacky weddings. That wacky-shindig was for openers or a market-survey only, to test their pulses – and their purses, too, of course.

Did you know that there is a lot of gold in India? Even the poorest of the poor would rather starve to death than sell their gold, which they need for such rare occasions, to sustain the priests and gurus, and to gain their approval and blessings! Like all other Religions and their propagators or perpetrators, THIS – or something similar, if not worse – is what is chiseled into the brains of the poor and innocent, but illiterate and ignorant ASSES – MASSES without the M – from birth, through life, to death! Some of them are literate and enlightened but dare not swim against the powerful current of inbred innate superstition.

That wacky-shindig is the best and most typical example of what Religion has done for Human-Apes! It has driven them like cattle, and brought them to extremities: Extreme chicanery, greed, vanity, and ruthless malevolence at one end of the ruler; and extreme blindness, deafness and dumbness, illiteracy, and ignorance at the other end. Religion survives and thrives on illiteracy. Illiteracy begets ignorance; poverty and suppression and oppression beget illiteracy; and the grand-mother of all of these is superstition.

I only hope they did not force the young girl to consummate the marriage – copulate with the stray dog. Don’t laugh now, but I couldn’t decide whether to feel sorry for the girl, or the dog! And don’t look now, but I tried, once, to imagine God in the image of a Human-Ape since, like they say, Human-Ape was created in the image of God; and you wouldn’t want – and a lot of you out there and in here wouldn’t like it – to read what I have to write about it! In his Inaugural Address, President Obama directed a few comments to listeners in the Moslem world. His words were refreshingly direct, with no-nonsense:

To the Moslem world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict or blame their society's ills on the West, know that your people will judge you on what you build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; and that we are prepared to extend our hands if you are willing to unclench your fists.

Earlier in the speech, President Obama praised the mélange heritage of the United States as strength, recognizing that it is a nation composed of Christians, Moslems, Jews, and Hindus – and various other sects and even non-believers.

When reciting the oath of office, Obama proudly pronounced his full name: Barack Hussein Obama. An editorial in the Los Angeles Times recommended that it would be perfectly appropriate for him to use his full name, without shame. Obama's Moslem heritage should not be taboo, nor should his attempts to reach out to Moslems – Daniel: Say his full name without shame; and his Moslem heritage or reaching out to Moslems should not be a taboo!? Since when have any of these been a shame or a taboo in the USA? The editor of the Los Angeles Times needs to take his head out of his Ass – or take his brain out of his Ass and put it back inside his skull; if there’s still space left for it, with all the Horse-shit he has filled it with!

My job is to communicate to the American people the fact that the Moslem world is full of extraordinary people – extraordinary people because they are ordinary people – who simply want to live their lives and see their children live better lives. My obligation to the Moslem world is to communicate to them the fact that Americans are not their enemies and that we sometimes make mistakes. We have not been perfect, but if they look at the track record, as they say, America was not born as a colonial power, and we see no reason why we cannot restore the same respect and partnership that America had with the Moslem world as recently as 20 or 30 years ago, and which I think is going to be an important task – difficult, but not impossible – Daniel: 20 or 30 years ago!? My dear Obama for now; first, neither of them is anywhere near recent; second, the two figures are 10 years apart. You need to be a bit more precise if you want any of those out there and any of the rest in here to take you seriously! As for me, nothing has surprised or shocked or fazed me so far; and nothing can or will.

Ultimately, people are going to judge me not by my words but by my deeds and my administration's performance, and over the next several years, you are not going to see someone who agrees with everything that some Moslem leader may say, or what's on a TV station in the Arab world, but someone who listens, who is respectful, and who hopes to promote the interests of not just the United States, but also ordinary people all over the world who are suffering from poverty and the lack of opportunity. I want to make sure that I'm speaking to them, as well

The president reiterated the US’s commitment to Israel as an ally and to its right to defend itself. But he mentioned the fact that both the Israelites and the Palestinians have difficult choices – or decisions – to make; and he believes that the moment is ripe for both sides to realise that the path that they are on is one that is not going to result in prosperity, security, or stability for both peoples; and he called for a Palestinian state with internal freedom of movement that can trade with its neighbouring countries – Daniel: What is so difficult about realising that compromise and co-existence is the only way out of this vile vicious cycle of kill, maim, and destroy and be killed, maimed, and destroyed that can only end in the extermination of both peoples – including us all.

Obama also said that recent statements and messages issued Al Qaeda indicated they did not know how to deal with this new approach. They seemed nervous and confused, and they realised that their ideas were bankrupt – or on the brink of bankruptcy.

In his latest message on 14^th January, Osama Bin Ladin said that Obama had been left with the heavy inheritance – or remnants – of Bush's wars.

Shortly after the election, Ayman al-Zawahri, used a demeaning racial term for a black American who does the bidding of whites to describe Obama – Daniel: A black slave? A lot of slave became kings in history. It’s not how or where you begin; it’s how or where you end up. The message indicated the terror network was worried Obama could undermine its rallying cry that the United States was an enemy oppressor.

The Head of Hezballah's parliamentary bloc, Mohammed Raad, said the tone of the speech would not mislead them nor would the new US president's charisma; and that Hezballah was waiting to see deeds and commitments the new US Administration would make – Daniel: I wouldn’t pay much attention to this scumbag shit-head sour-puss schmuck because he only Farts what he is told.

Iran’s streets were not empty. Its main TV channels were not tuned to Washington. Seventy million people did not watch the inauguration of the President whose surname in their language means he is with us. On Iran's main state-TV news, not a frame of the inauguration was shown. It was mentioned once, but only in the context of America's economic crisis. There were no pictures of Obama on the front pages of newspapers. One magazine was closed down by the authorities for that after Obama's election victory. Out in the streets, thousands chanted his name, but only to yell Death to Obama. They didn't wait for the inauguration to deliver their verdict on Obama, dragging his portrait through the streets of Tehran and then, three hours before he took the oath of office, setting fire to it alongside a picture of George Bush.

It was the Supreme Leader's Special Representative, Hossein Shariatmadari, though, who put it most graphically and with evident disgust. Obama's hand is the hand of Satan in a new sleeve. The Great Satan now has a black face. His words have weight because he speaks for Ayatollah Khamenei, the man who makes the big decisions in Iran; on foreign policy and all matters nuclear. His fingernails have re-grown since they were pulled out by the Shah's torturers thirty years ago and he now edits Iran's most hard-line newspaper. Obama won't make any big change in American policy towards Iran because he has little room for change in anything. And we won't change our goal; we are determined to have nuclear power but not nuclear weapons.

Arabs and Moslems gave the benefit of some doubt to US President Barack Obama's offer of a new way forward with the Moslem world, but many said it would take deeds rather than words to convince them.

After eight years of President George W. Bush, who invaded two Moslem countries and gave strong support to Israel, Arabs and Moslems watched Obama's inaugural speech closely for any signs that US policy toward them would change.

With some exceptions on the fringes, a clear majority said they welcomed the new tone from Obama, who promised relations based on mutual interest and mutual respect.

It was never Occupied Palestinian Territories, and the Right to Return is the carrot and stick that……

The OPT Horse-shit, or Occupied Palestinian Territories Horse-shit, and the Right to Return are the carrot and stick that the Moslem-Arabs – the whole Middle East and Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and all Arab or Arab-speaking countries – use to keep the Palestinians at bay.

To keep at bay: to keep somebody or something unpleasant or unwanted – or some unpleasant and unwanted people – at a distance or in a secluded area – like camps – to avoid difficulty or harm – in the case of the Pathetic Pain-in-the-Ass Palestinians, to avoid the responsibility of granting them citizenships, the embarrassment of their actions and monkey-antics – their tendency to attack their hosts, bite the hands that feed them, and attempt to take over their homes – and the difficulty of controlling them; and that is why they are in camps all over most of the Arab countries – with their own policemen and Etc, and so forth and so on. If I said it more than once before, I said it too many times already that, not all of us are Etc, and so forth and so on; so enough of this Donkey-shit! The Horse is wide awake and alert. Cease and desist!

Jesus was a Jew, wasn’t he? He was born in Bethlehem in Judea, in Israel, wasn’t he? And, at the time, the Romans ruled all of Judea. If we count from when Jesus was born to date, the Jews, or the Israelites, have lived in Israel for 2,009 years. If we count from Moses, it’s more than 4,000 years; so what is all this Monkey-Donkey-Cat-Shit about Occupied Palestinian Territories?

Both the Palestinians and the Israelites must wake up from the nightmare induced and introduced, or injected, into their brains by the UN, the IC, and the Arabs or the Arab League in the first place, and realise that if they are to survive and thrive, they must compromise and co-exist side by side in relative peace and mutual acknowledgement and acceptance of, and above all respect for, one another; or else it’s curtains for both.

The way I see it, and nothing escapes Daniel in the Lion’s Den, the Israelites and the Palestinians like and respect one another and would like to live in peace together for both their own sakes and, more especially, for the sake of their posterities; BUT! There are those – leaders of certain backward and evil countries and organisations – who will not let them or allow them, since that would thwart their aims and goals and threaten their very existence. And that is why there are rabid-jackals like Hezballah and Amal in Lebanon; Hamas in Palestine or Gaza; Al-Qaeda in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and Etc and so forth and so on.

If there are any who do not like the Palestinians and actually hate them,  it's the Arab and Arab-speaking countries!

Without the Palestinian-Israeli conflict – or cauldron – Bashar Al-Assad’s, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s, Hassan Nasrallah’s, Osama Bin Ladin’s, Ayman Zawahiri’s, and all the others’ postures, attitudes, speeches, and approaches toward their peoples and/or followers and the whole region would become far less than ludicrous and ridiculous! And so long as there are blind, deaf and dumb, obtuse, illiterate and ignorant morons among the Palestinians, the Lebanese, and all the other peoples, so long shall the situation remain as it is – that is, if it does not deteriorate and exacerbate. How many times must I tell you: not all of us are Etc, and so forth and so on……?

The locals at Munda Dhanda village performed the ceremony as they believe it will overcome any curse that might fall on the family. Interestingly, the girl is free to get married later in life to a man without even seeking a divorce – Daniel: Some marriage, that was! Superstitions are widespread in India, especially in rural areas where literacy and enlightenment are scarce and illiteracy and ignorance are rampant.

Daniel: What do you expect me to say; that the other young girls who are married off to old men, and those who are raped, and those who are stoned to death, Etc and so forth and so on…are lucky? In any case, these are Human-Apes. If I could or should feel sorry at all, it would be for the poor stray dog that had the very bad luck to fall into the hands of such creatures. Rival political leaders in Lebanon adjourned their Hiwar Hamir Watani on a National Defence Strategy, at the heart of which lay the thorny issue of Hezballah's weapons – for more than a month. A statement from the presidency said a team of experts would be formed to examine proposals from both and all sides, and that another round of talks will be held on 2^nd March at the Baabda Presidential Palace – Daniel: A team of experts! I like that. But experts at what; certainly not experts at what they were elected to do, or experts in seeking the interests and welfare of the people!?

The statement added that the participants agreed to work on the implementation of previous agreements on the issue of Palestinian weapons outside the 12 refugee camps in the  country which house an estimated 400,000 people. The Palestinians themselves police the camps – Daniel: Why call them Camps? Why not call them by their real and true names: Mini-States within the State of Lebanon? Weapons are also held outside the camps by members of the pro-Syrian Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine General Command, and by members of the Fatah Intifada. So, now who is left without weapons? I ask you!

Pressure mounted on Lebanon to tackle the issue of Palestinian weapons outside the camps after rockets had been fired from the south into northern Israel during the Jewish state's 22-day onslaught on the Gaza Strip.

Fourteen leaders from the main parliamentary blocs are took part in the talks chaired by President Michel Suleiman. The major stumbling block to agreement on a common defence strategy was and is Hezballah's weapons and arsenal.

And I know you know I know it’s one word! The group refuses to disarm on the grounds that its armaments and militias are essential in the defence of the country against Israel. And we all saw how essential they were during the July 2006 Fallacy, Fiasco, Folly, and Madness, didn’t we? ZILCH! All they did was irritate and infuriate the enemy which prompted Israel to do all that it did to Lebanon and the Lebanese only – Hezballah are experts at hit-and-run-and-hide tactics, monkey-antics, and doing the jitterbug. Hamas did the same thing to the poor innocent people of Gaza. However, all of you out there and all of us in here know fully well by now that Hezballah and Amal, and Hamas, are Iran’s Tentacles of Terror and Turbulence in, and the States of Iran within, Lebanon and Palestine. A: Adoption of a national defence strategy that the state would commit to, in defending Lebanon and in liberating occupied territories – Daniel: Donkey-shit! C: State to commit to Taif accords and in particular the state of truce between Lebanon and Israel, while extending the Lebanese armed forces authority over internationally recognized borders – Daniel: What borders? Lebanon is a country that exists only on maps; a wide-open, free-for-all brothel; with too many pimps running the show – the pimps are paid and the whores are whipped – a zoo with all the cages wide-open and the animals roaming free and at will; the battle-ground for Syria’s and Iran’s farcical and futile war against Israel and the West – or the chess-board for Syria’s and Iran’s chess-game with Israel and the West (not all of us are……); and the shit-house for the rest of the world!

D: State to strengthen its armed forces by all available means – Daniel: Well, this D is good, if Tiz-Allah and its allies and alliances will let or allow the state to do it. That was the sole reason for all the assassinations and why they caused all that trouble, death, wounded, and destruction -- including Tent City, the invasion of Beirut, and the closing-down of the Airport and the road leading to it -- in order to get into, or be a part, of the present government – to block any such moves or projects that would strengthen the State and weaken them at the same time! E: State to adopt modern and advanced methods in equipping and training its military, under supervision of Lebanon's military general command – Daniel: This E is another version of, or the same as, or an extension of D

F: Hezballah to deliver – or hand over – their arms to the Lebanese military – Armed Forces – under a specific timetable and programme – Daniel: Well, well, well! That’ll be the day, and not in our life-times, or theirs, either!

G: State to take measures in protecting Hezballah’s leaders and cadres – Daniel: You see!? First, the State takes away their source of strength and menace, and then places them under the State’s protection and mercy. Iran will never allow it and Syria will shake its head and raise its tail in the back-ground!

H: Strengthening international guarantees for Lebanon – Daniel: Donkey-shit again! Lebanon first has to prove and show it is worth the trouble and the time – and the costs and efforts involved! And with Tiz-Allah and Amal and their allies and alliances, and the Palestinians, all armed to the teeth……in three words: No way, José!

I: State to officially request Syria to provide signed documents demarking borders for the Sheba Farms – Daniel: Dream on, Barbed-Ass-hole! The Sheba farms are one of Iran’s and Syria’s Aces in the Holes! In three words again: No way, José!

J: State to immediately begin collecting Palestinian arms inside and outside refugee camps as agreed to at the national dialogue – Daniel: More Donkey-shit! K: State to approve draft constitutional amendment proposed by members of parliament that calls for a unanimous parliamentary decision in any resolution for settling Palestinians in Lebanon. Rockets Found in Mayor’s Garden in Iqlim Kharroub

News reports said that a woman found two rockets, not set to explode, in the garden of the house of the Mayor of Barja, Mahmoud Khodr Hadadeh, in the Iqlim el-Kharroub province. Security forces quickly moved in and cordoned off the area as experts safely dismantled the rockets. Police opened up an investigation into the incident.

150 Fighters from Jibril's PFLP-GC Smuggled to Beddawi, Naameh

150 fighters from Ahmed Jibril's Popular Front for the PFLP-GC were reportedly smuggled to the northern refugee camp of Beddawi and the coastal town of Naameh, south of Beirut. The daily Al Balad said the PFLP-GC which has bases in barren terrains in the east Lebanon's towns of Qossaya, Hilweh, Sultan Yaqoub, and Deir el-Ghazal, smuggled around 150 fighters to the Beddawi camp and a tunnel in Naameh via the northern town of Talbira in the Akkar province. It reported unusual PFLP-GC activity, including the setting up rocket launchers, anti-aircraft guns and planting anti-personnel mines and anti-vehicle mines around its bases.

The 82-metre-270-feet luxury yacht, Ocean Breeze – it began as Basra Breeze – custom-built for Saddam Hussein with swimming pools, a mosque, a mini-submarine, and a missile launcher, would be towed back to Iraq from a Greek port because the global economic crisis had thwarted attempts to sell it. That would also save the Iraqi government the cost of expensive berthing and maintenance fees.

It was custom-built for Saddam in Denmark in 1981 – 28 years ago – but the Iran-Iraq war prompted Saddam to move it from the southern port of Basra to Saudi Arabia for fear that it would be damaged during the conflict. It became the subject or object of a legal wrangle when it appeared in the French Riviera city of Nice in 2007, where a British boat-dealer tried to sell it for E$23.5million/$30.38million.

Michel Suleiman/Sleiman Arabic ميشال سليمان‎, born 21^st November 1948 is the current President of Lebanon. Before assuming office as the President, he held the position of commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces. After the LAF commander Émile Lahhoud had taken office as the president in the November of 1998, Suleiman succeeded him, taking his place in December. Suleiman was later elected President and was sworn into office on 25^th May 2008 – after almost a year.

Suleiman was born in Amsheet. He joined the Lebanese Armed Forces in 1967 and went on to graduate from the Military Academy as 2nd Lieutenant in 1970. From 4^th December 1990 until 24^th August 1991 he was appointed as the Chief of the Intelligence Branch of Mount Lebanon. On 25^th August 1991, he was re-assigned to the post of Army Staff Secretary-General until 10^th June 1993. He was Commander of the 11^th Infantry Brigade from 6^th June 1993 to 15^th January 1996, a period that witnessed violent confrontations with the Israeli forces in the West Beqaa Valley and South Lebanon regions. On 15^th January 1996, he was appointed as Commander of the 6th Infantry Brigade and remained in that position until 21^st December 1998, when he was appointed as the Commander of the Armed Forces.

Nesrallah Boutros Sfeir: Centrist Bloc Not Directed against Aoun

Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir said that a centrist parliamentary bloc would not necessarily be directed against Gen. Michel Aoun -- that's I'm Mad Michu-Aouu -- and that it was not, and would not, be limited to Christian sects, but included, and would include, all sects.

President Michel Suleiman was quoted as saying on the eve of the fourth round of all-party talks that he was committed to dialogue and that he had nothing to do with the centrist parliamentary bloc, which had caused controversy in Lebanon. The President said he would not enter the election battle and he would neither adopt a candidate nor support any other; and that he would not object to anyone who won the elections and wanted to be in a centrist or neutral bloc, afterwards – Daniel: Well, well, well! That’s the way to go, Mr. President! Don’t let those Rats, Jackals, and Hyenas among those around you get to, or into, you! BY GOD AND SATAN! You may prove to be…No! Let’s wait and see. All the residents at Baabda Palace said a lot of things at the beginning of their terms that turned out to be lies and hypocrisy, so……

Suleiman also said he was considering the setting up of a committee to study the defence strategy proposed by Hezballah – Daniel: My dear Mr. President – for now; later, we shall see – proposed by Hezballah!? Parliament Sneaker-Speaker, Beriberi-Berri, questioned the government of Prime Moron-Minister, Slick-Sneaky-Saniora, about the Saudi donations earmarked for the reconstruction of south Lebanon – Daniel: Did it ever occur to any of you out there or in here that the whole July 2006 Fallacy, Fiasco, Folly, and Madness had been set up only to give the Political and Religious Lead-Large-Monkeys more opportunities to lie and steal and to gain more postures? It did, to me.

Beriberi-Berri said that till today – Sunday – the Saudi grant had been blocked to Lebanese citizens (quoted) – Daniel: I wonder! To me, it meant that Slick-Sneaky-Saniora hadn’t given Beriberi-Berri his proper share of the money – at least, what was agreed on.

Slick-Sneaky-Saniora hit back. In a communiqué released by his office, Slick-Sneaky-Saniora said: We – all of us liars and thieves – are sorry to hear not only an inaccurate statement by Sneaker-Speaker Beriberi-Berri, but a statement that does not correspond to the truth – Daniel: He should have added: Now, inaccurate and does not correspond to the truth may sound the same to you, but I am the expert at Glib-Talking and in Finance and Money-Juggling. Beriberi is the expert at Dodging and Maneuvering betwixt and between. Beriberi got what we agreed on but he wants more, and…in three words: No way, José! After all, we have to spend some of the money – albeit a little of it – on those miserable morons. Damn it!

It said the Higher Relief Commission – Daniel: More likely: High Commission set up to Relieve the fools of their money – had resumed the payment of aid pledged for war-affected citizens in villages adopted by Riyadh and other countries – Daniel: And paid the monies pledged by all of us to all of us – liars and thieves.

Slick-Sneaky-Saniora's statement said the Commission was up-to-date in and on all its dealings with the Sham-Scam-Dupe-Con-Council for the South and that it had paid the required amounts, the last of which was LL.20 billion distributed among 1,130 citizens – Daniel: What a pity Naharnet did not see fit to state the original figure. That would have helped a lot. That’s the MMMMMMMMM-Mad-Monkey-Media for you.

The publisher of Lebanon's only English-language daily newspaper, Jamil Mroue, said that a court order forced the newspaper to shut down over financial difficulties – money-troubles – Daniel: Is there any other kind, other than women and stomach; and   not necessarily in that order? BY HORSE-SHIT!

Judicial authorities shut down and sealed the Beirut offices of The Daily Star on Wednesday 14^th January, less than two hours after the court order – Daniel: That was slightly quicker than quick, wasn’t it? The Daily Star must have trod on not a few tails for them to……

The paper has since been out of print and its Web-site hasn't been updated – Daniel: No wonder I hadn’t received my daily news-letters and alerts and could not Log In!

Mroue said he was going to appeal the decision, and that he was looking for new investors. The Daily Star was a rare English-language daily in the Arab world independent of government control – Daniel: Now we know. The Lousy Lebanese Government couldn’t control it!

The paper, founded by Jamil's late father, Kamel Mroue, in 1952, had suffered from financial troubles for years, and it owed a Lebanese bank around $700,000 – Daniel: BANKS! BY GOD AND SATAN! They convince you and loan you now only to convict you and own you later. Take now and enjoy your life, but pay later with the rest of your life. They seduce you now only to screw you later. I remember a maxim – it’s actually a warning – I learnt long before I even had any money to put in Banks: He who goes a-borrowing goes a-sorrowing. It works both ways; if you borrow money to a friend, you go a-sorrowing for it because he won’t pay you back – when you really need it – and by the time he pays you back, the money is worthless, or worth less – whichever. And if you borrow money from a Bank you will go a-sorrowing for it, too, because you won’t be able to pay it back – when you should – and by the time you pay it back, you realise it is (worth) more, or more than it was (worth) – when you took it. Banks, Religion, and Politics; it all depends on which side of the counter, or the fence, you are.

However, I can and will say: What a pity the Lousy Lebanese Government – this includes the Presiding Prick-President, the Prime Moron-Minister, and the Sneaker-Speaker of the Lousy-House; plus all the Moron-Ministers and Repulsive-Reprehensive-Representatives, Etc and so forth and so on – haven’t got a Bail-Out Plan for Small Businesses……only for Banks and Big Businesses. Alexandria, Egypt: An Egyptian woman, Ghazala Khamis, 27, gave birth to septuplets in the Mediterranean coastal city of Alexandria. The director of the hospital where she had given birth said she was in good condition after receiving a blood transfusion due during her Caesarean section – Daniel: Ghazala!? JEEZ! Arnaba is more apt.

The newborns, four boys and three girls, were in stable condition. They were placed in incubators in four different hospitals that have special premature baby units. Ghazala – or Arnaba – the wife of a farmer in northern Beheira, already had three daughters.

26^th August 2008: They badly wanted a boy, and she had not conceived in five years, so doctors gave her hormones. The startling result was healthy septuplets – four boys and three girls – heralded by Egyptian doctors as a miracle. But debate persists about the ethics of fertility treatment in a nation where medical oversight is rampant, incubators and neo-natal respirators are rare, and women face pressures to bear sons. In addition, Egypt faces concerns about over-population and cheap fertility drugs that could lead to a wave of multiple births. President Hosni Mubarak had warned in June that population growth hindered Egypt's economy, and that Egypt's population of 79 million – mostly crammed into 3% of the country's area around the Nile River – would double by 2050.

For Arnaba, the most pressing question now is how her impoverished family is going to get by. Lying in her hospital bed and lying through her teeth, she said she was really scared. She said they lived in a mud hut with only two rooms and that she didn’t know how they were going to be able to afford 10 children at the time. Arnaba added that her husband, Farag Mohammed Ali, a 31-year-old farm labourer, could find work only a few days a week and that she was really worried about the future – Daniel: JEEZ! Fuck first; think and ask questions later! And how  typical of Moslem-Arabs and Arab-speaking peoples! It’s a vile vicious unending cycle of pressure to bear sons compounded by unscrupulous and greedy (quack) doctors who don’t care a hoot or give a damn about the women and their too-many-mouths-to-feed babies or too-many-children to care for, look after, and/or bring up and educate well!

Much about the 16^th Aug. 16 birth, by Caesarean section, was stunning. The babies were too large for a multiple birth, weighing between 3.3 and 4.10 pounds each. The duration of the pregnancy was also the longest ever for septuplets – 34 weeks. In contrast, the world's first surviving septuplets, born to the McCaughey family in Iowa in 1997, came at 31 weeks and the biggest baby weighed about the same as Arnaba's smallest. There are two other sets of surviving septuplets, both born to Saudi women. Arnaba's doctors waited so long to deliver the babies because Egypt had only a few respirators for new-born babies, and none were available. So for weeks, doctors kept Arnaba in Alexandria's Shatby Maternity University Hospital, letting the babies develop enough so that their lungs could function on their own after birth. But the wait also increased the risk to the mother. The surgeon who performed the operation told the Associated Press that they were simply blessed by God that no complications arose, and that if there had been any, Arnaba would have died – Daniel: Like, who cares for the mothers, so long as they bore sons? Also, God blessed because she lived. If she had died, it would have been Satan’s fault – or His handiwork.

He said he prescribed fertility drugs to stimulate egg production and after 5 injections, he recommended Arnaba and her husband have intercourse – Daniel: I’m sure he had not a few sessions with her before.

He said he was stunned when he later heard 9 heartbeats – he couldn't remember whether he had done a sonogram first to see how many eggs had developed before performing and later recommending the fornication. It was very rare that all the eggs would get fertilized with regular intercourse – Daniel: Regular intercourse. I like that. Do any of you out there and in here know of or heard about irregular intercourse?

He said he strongly advised Arnaba to undergo fetal reduction, in which some fetuses were terminated to ensure the safety of the others and the mother, but she refused. Two of the fetuses were lost during the course of the pregnancy. After she’d been told of their names, Arnaba said she wanted one to be named after her doctor – Daniel: I told you, didn’t I? I am positive he was the father of more than one, if not all, of them. That Arnaba would have had 9 babies if 2 hadn’t felt that her womb was too crowded for comfort, and decided to leave!

Some Western medical ethicists questioned the use of fertility drugs by a young woman who already has three children, considering the risk of multiple births. A professor of fertility ethics at the University of Ghent in Belgium said it was a medical failure, and that doctors should not take such risks because of the complications to the mothers and the babies; and Arnaba’s doctors should have been more careful in prescribing fertility drugs to her – Daniel: She had demonstrated her fertility. 27 with three children; for crying out loud! That woman was fertile! Even if she had a brief period of infertility, that was no reason or cause to stimulate ovulation.

The mix of cheap fertility treatments and Egyptians' eagerness to have many children could lead to more risky multiple pregnancies – which the country's health system could not handle. Locally made versions of the drugs were government-subsidized and only cost about $7.50 a shot. There was also pressure on women to produce sons as a point of pride and for financial reasons. Boys help families by working and earning incomes, often at a young age, and they ensure inheritance, since daughters and wives could only inherit a portion of their fathers’ wealth and/or properties, and if there were no male children, the bulk goes to the fathers' brothers.

Daniel: In most parts of Egypt – and in most parts of Moslem-Arab and Arab-speaking countries – a woman who hasn't got a boy is the same as if she hasn't got any children at all. I ask you!

The forgotten tribes of the Sahara

While all the focus was being given to the Middle East conflict – Israel, Gaza Strip, the Palestinians, Syria and Lebanon – there was another long-standing conflict, which for the most part failed to attract much attention: the dispute over one of the world's most inhospitable pieces of real estate on earth – the Sahara Desert.

The people of the Sahara, known as the Sahrawis, were caught in the middle of a conflict – for 30 years – for control of the Western Sahara – a vast and desolate region between Morocco, Algeria, and Mauritania, but that is rich in minerals.

The conflict for control of the former Spanish colony was between Morocco, which claims historic ties to the territory, and the Polisario Front, a group that fought the Spaniards for independence and rejected Morocco's claim over the territory, along with Rabat's offers of autonomy; and insisting upon full independence.

Polisario Front: Popular Front for the Liberation of Saguia el Hamra and Río de Oro and a militant movement for the independence of Western Sahara – Daniel: Their own special version of Hezballah and Hamas.

The nomadic inhabitants of the region were opposed to colonization; so to maintain their nomadic lifestyle, many of them were forced to immigrate to neighbouring Morocco, Algeria, or Mauritania. After the 1970 Sahrawi independence campaign had been violently suppressed by Spanish forces, Sahrawi nationalists formed the Polisario Front in 1973 and began engaging Spanish forces in guerrilla warfare.

Multiple efforts to resolve the crisis failed, with each side blaming the other for intransigence. The last initiative was launched by Morocco in 2007, offering the Sahrawis full autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty – a concept that was rejected by the Polisario, although talks under United Nations auspices continued – Daniel: Talk, balk, walk, by and under the UN, as always.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Sahrawi refugees (IDP) languished in refugee camps controlled by the Polisario – where they lived under some of the harshest and most squalid conditions imaginable.

Morocco accused the Algerian-backed Polisario of forcibly detaining the refugees in five camps around the region of Tindouf, in Algeria, under a news blackout. The exact number of refugees living in the camps, at the time, was unclear as the United Nations High Commission for Refugees had been refused access to the camps by Algeria and the Polisario. Estimates pieced together by refugees who managed to escape, placed the figure around 90,000 – Daniel: JEEZ! Remember! Estimates x 2, at least; and x 5 at best! JEEZ! That’s the UN for you. Moroccan officials, and refugees who managed to escape from camps, and who were interviewed by the Middle East Times said the reason for the forced detention of the refugees were financial, as resources allocated to the refugees were hijacked by corrupt officials of the Polisario, who then sell the humanitarian aid on the black market in Algeria and neighboring Mauritania.

Refugees interviewed described daily life in the camps as very difficult, monotonous, and with no prospect for a future. Humanitarian aid that filtered through was largely insufficient and the refugees subsisted on diets of rice, lentils, flour and oil. Fruits, vegetables and meat had to be purchased, but the refugees often lacked the resources to do so – Daniel: Only rice, lentils, flour, and oil; but I’m willing to bet a bent and rusty  buffalo nickel dipped in shit that they fornicated and produced more mouths to feed! Come to think of it, I must not, and I do not, blame the UN since, I suppose, it knows the miserable but mischievous and moronic large Monkeys masquerading as Human-Apes better than all of you out there and all the rest in here. I know both the UN and the Monkeys well!

The tragedy was further amplified by families who were forced to separate as the Polisario refused to allow whole families to travel outside the camps together.

Refugees who managed to escape, such as two women among a group of eight refugees taken to the United States by the Moroccan American Center for Policy, related their harrowing experience in getting away from the camps in Algeria to Morocco, and leaving behind husbands and children.

The two women offered a brief aperçu into the hardships faced by tens of thousands of Sahrawis who continued to exist in a political limbo, unwarranted and unwilling actors in a lingering conflict-concert in which they had no voice and little hope for a future. – Daniel: Being I, myself, and me, and knowing what I do about the Monkey-Mentalities and Antics of Human-Apes – not to mention their greed, vanity, jitterbug-dances, Etc, and Monkey-Ancestries – I wonder why they picked those two women! I suspect……
