September 1970 is known as the BLACK SEPTEMBER; Arabic: أيلول الأسود in Arab history and is sometimes referred to as The Era of Regrettable Events. It was the month when the late Hashemite King Hussein of Jordan moved to quash the autonomy of Palestinian organisations and restore the prestige of his monarchy. The violence resulted in the deaths of 7,000 to 8,000 Palestinians (estimates! The figure could be twice or thrice as many). Armed conflict lasted until July 1971 with the expulsion of the PLO and tens or hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to Lebanon – Read: 366King Hussein clearly massacred the Palestinians without holding back at all and this is the reason why there is no terrorism in Jordan…as there is in Lebanon and elsewhere.

The description of those events as a MASSACRE is analogous to what occurred in Hama during Hafez al-Assad's reign and the actions that King Hussein and the Jordanian Army pursued were absolutely right, in hindsight – as history has proven. There is no terrorism in Syria, either.

True, it was a massacre, but those Palestinian civilians or refugees engaged in acts of war against the monarchy and Jordanian soldiers and civilians – an attempted coup. They were part of the PLO's unorganised or unofficial army; so that was a massacre of Jordanian soldiers and civilians by the Palestinians that resulted in the massacre and forced exodus of the Palestinians. It was another TIT for TAT plus TIT and TAT and more!

The trick in staging or attempting a coup is in not losing or failing – if you win or succeed you’ve arrived and you’re heroes; if you lose or fail, you’re finished and you’re heels!

A few months ago, her eldest son was picked up by the police for an expired residence permit and imprisoned for three months until he got a new one. The Information Minister, who supports changing the law, said there was definitely sexism in such worries and that he feared that it might take a bit of time to change – Daniel: Not only sexism; racism, too! The Lebanese constitution prevents all forms of settling Palestinians in Lebanon, said Christian lawmaker, Naamatallah Abi-Nasr, who opposes changing the current law – Daniel: A Christian Moron with his brain in his Ass, his nose in the Horse-shit of Religion and Politics and his eyes on the back of his empty skull! They have already settled in Lebanon! Reformers face a similar situation in Jordan, home to nearly two million Palestinian refugees. Queen Rania has pressed for new laws to allow women to pass on their nationality to their children, but lawmakers have resisted, fearing the move could open the way for Palestinians to gain citizenship. Activists and women married to foreigners in Lebanon have held conferences and sit-ins in recent months, including protests outside the prime minister's office and near parliament in October; a draft bill to allow women to pass on their citizenship to their children has been submitted to parliament, though it is not known when lawmakers will take it up. Lina Abou-Habib, the executive director of the Collective for Research and Training on Development Action – also a campaign leader – said that Lebanon was the least-advanced country in the region when it came to it. It is not known how many Lebanese women are married to foreigners, but they are believed to number in the thousands. Many live abroad and are not registered. Syrian and Palestinian Male-Apes married to Female-Lebanese-Apes don't register with the authorities since Palestinian refugees don't need residency permits and Syrians can stay for up to six months without applying for residency permits. Without citizenship, the husbands and children of Lebanese women are barred from government jobs and cannot own properties or businesses. They must also renew their residency permit every year, each time costing around $300.

Ikbal Doughan, a women's rights activists and the lawyer of the citizenship campaign, told a conference recently that they wanted their rights; they were not asking for more.

After meeting with Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Butros Sfeir at Bkirki – read: 15 – Future Movement Leader, Saad Harriri, said that direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel were against national interests and that they wanted a just peace for Lebanon and Syria. They also hoped peace would be achieved between Syria and Israel, but for their part they did not want direct negotiations with Israel; but he criticised Bash-Ayr ASSad for his willingness to demarcate borders with Israel in the occupied Golan Heights while refusing to do the same with Lebanon in the occupied Sheba Farms.

Sad-Saad is nothing at all like his late, lamented, and beloved father, Rafiq; so far, he has proven himself to be a two-or-more-faced, two-or-more-tongued stuttering liar, hypocrite, and coward, who is biding his time while playing the dirty nasty game of maneuvering for position and power at the expense of Lebanon and the Lebanese – better to be still alive and the next Prime Moron-Ape of the Lebanese Moron-Apes than dead and buried – hopefully.

Syrian President, Bash-Ayr Al-ASSad, said that the Turkish-mediated indirect talks between Syria and Israel would eventually (soon) become direct talks if based on implementing international resolutions.

Free Patriotic Movement leader, Major-Prick, Michu Aouu, said over the weekend that he did not mind direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel if Syria were at the same table.

Lebanon's parliamentary majority wanted border demarcations with Syria to include the Sheba Farms but ASSad was not willing to take any such steps before an Israeli withdrawal from the territory.

But my un-dear ASSad; Israel has not withdrawn from the Golan Heights and yet you are willing, and intend, to have direct peace-talks with Israel, and to demarcate the borders between Syria and Israel.

Anti-Syrian politicians have repeatedly argued that defining borders on maps was still possible despite the Israeli occupation. Half-FARTS from whole-Monkeys! Demarcation or definition on a map without demarcation and definition on the ground is like drawing lines in the air.

Also, Labour Minister, Mohammad Fneish, Hezballah's only minister in the current Cabinet – one Mad-Monkey, or Rabid-Rat, in the pack, bites and infects all the others; but there are much more than one: Amali-ayri, Aouui-la-ayri, Harami-ayrii, Wahahairi, Ars-la-ayri Etc – said, after meeting Prime Minister, Fouad Siniorayri – I wonder why this twisted-mouth four-faced multiple-tongued Monkey is still the Prime Moron-Monkey – at the Grand Serail, that direct talks with Israel were unacceptable and unlikely to be achieved, since there was no need for negotiations so long as our rights are clear. Israel is the aggressor and the occupier and we are not willing to compromise any of our rights.

Foreign Minister, Fawzi Sallouk, Amal, also said that Lebanon had rejected earlier calls for holding direct talks with Israel and added that Lebanon would benefit from Syrian-Israeli talks if Damascus manages to achieve its demands. Benefit Lebanon; benefit Lebanon how? That would Bene-Fuck Lebanon!

This only means that Syria and Iran can instigate a war with Israel through their perishable pawns and expendable elements in Lebanon while Syria and Israel can still sit at the table and wine and dine and talk. Not all of us are Etc and so forth and so on......

Asked to comment on reports that French President, Nicholas Sarkozy, would propose the launching of Lebanese-Israeli talks during his visit to Beirut next month, he said: let it be; and we would not mind if Sarkozy could guarantee an Israeli withdrawal from the Sheba Farms, Kfar Shuba Hills, and the border village of Ghajar.

HORSE-SHIT! Israel is not going to withdraw from anywhere without a full Peace-Treaty with the respective countries, guaranteed and signed by the UN, the IC, and the whole cotton-picking and mother-fucking ARAB LEAGUE OF NATIONS without any NOTIONS! Not all of us are Etc and so forth – read: 68

Meanwhile, former President, Amin Gemayel, after meeting Egyptian Ambassador, Ahmad al-Bidyawi, at the Phalange Party headquarters in Beirut, reiterated his call for holding indirect talks with Israel to resolve the Sheba Farms and other issues, and a return to the Armistice Agreement of 1949. He also pointed out that Syria was now calling for direct talks, and Hezballah had already used the strategy of indirect talks to liberate Lebanese prisoners, so why not try all diplomatic means to achieve Lebanon's best interest?

My un-dear Mush-Amine; why didn’t you return to the 1949 Armistice Agreement when you were the Presiding Prick? Syria and Iran wouldn’t let you then and they won’t let them, or you, now. Gemayel reportedly said during the dialogue session that such remarks were a violation of earlier commitments made by Hezballah concerning limiting the scope of its operations to Lebanon only – read: 167

Beriberi Berri reportedly replied to the remarks by telling Gemayel that he was also concerned about liberating Palestine from the river to the sea and that, that had always been a central cause for the Amal Movement, but Qassem's remarks did not mean that Hezballah had taken upon itself the mission of liberating Palestine -- Daniel: Oh, my not-dear-at-all Beriberi Berri! It did mean exactly that! Nothing more, and nothing less.

Dear readers and fellow-Apes; ISLAM in the title of this posting alludes to ISLAM as it has been twisted and turned, misinterpreted, mutated, mauled and mutilated, and misunderstood by certain Moslem-Human-Apes to fit and suit their whims and quirks, and to serve their aims and goals – or those of other Moslem-Human-Apes – who are followed blindly and mutely by illiterate and ignorant mobs of miserable, misguided and misled Moron-Moslem-Human-Apes!

TEHRAN: Iranian police raided and shut down the offices of a Human Rights Centre headed by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and lawyer, Shirin Ebadi. She was taken into custody, briefly, and released later.

The deputy head of her Human Rights Defenders Centre said they sealed off the offices and told them to leave the premises without resistance and that they had no choice but to comply.

The closed offices belong to two non-governmental organisations funded by her Nobel Peace Prize earnings: the Center for Participation in Clearing Mine Areas, which helps victims of landmines in Iran; and Defenders of Human Rights Center, founded five years before to report human rights violations in Iran, defend political prisoners, and support families of those prisoners.

Shirin, who won the Nobel peace prize in 2003 for her campaigning, was in the office at the time of the raid and condemned the police action, but vowed that human rights advocates in Iran would be unfazed and that shutting down the office without a warrant was illegal and  they would protest – Daniel: Protest to whom against whom; to Mad-Moron-Maniacs and tyrants against themselves? Horse-shit and a bloody waste of time and effort!

The semi-official Mehr news agency said the center's closure was based on a judicial decision taken because it did not have an interior ministry permit to conduct its activities. Political parties and associations must have such a permit to be legally recognised in Iran.

Dozens of uniformed and plain-clothes police had gathered outside the centre's offices in northwest Tehran, raided the office and made an inventory of its contents, and some had insulted members of the centre; there were no arrests in the raid. The officials had not shown a judicial warrant but only provided – gave – the number of a warrant.

The closure marks a renewed crackdown on human-rights campaigners by the Islamic republic, which Shirin's group accuses of systematically violating human rights in Iran.

A celebration marking the 60^th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights had been scheduled to be held on 10^th December. That very day, a Women’s Rights campaigner was prevented from leaving Iran to receive a prize in Italy and her passport was seized by the authorities.

Founded by five prominent lawyers and headed by Shirin, the group is a vocal critic of the human rights situation in Iran and has defended scores of prisoners of conscience, including high-profile dissidents and student activists.

In an annual report in May, Shirin's group complained that freedom of expression and freedom of circulating information have further declined since Mah-Moose Ahmadine-Jackass came to office in August 2005. At the time, the report warned that the lack of a real and effective observance of human rights deepens the gap between the people and the government and breaks the pillars of peace, stability and development in the country.

On Human Rights Day, Shirin Ebadi delivered a speech in Geneva calling for non-governmental organisations to be given a greater role in the UN's Human Rights Council and other bodies.

The group holds frequent meetings on what it deems to be human rights violations. At one recent gathering, it renewed calls on the government to stop the execution of minors convicted of offences.

In November, Shirin criticised Iran's new Islamic penal code, saying it remained unfair to women and used an incorrect interpretation of Islam – Daniel: Incorrect is putting it too mildly – after diluting it thrice, too!

In April, she said she received death threats pinned to the door of her office building, warning her to watch her tongue. Ahmadine-Jackass subsequently ordered that Ebadi be protected and that the threats be investigated.

In 1974, Shirin emerged as the first female judge in Iran, but after the 1979 Islamic revolution, the government decided that women were unfit to serve as judges. She then chose to become a lawyer and devoted herself to human rights, women and children.

Shirin Ebadi and her colleagues also represent the family of Canadian-Iranian photo-journalist, Zahra Kazemi, who died while in custody in 2003, after she had been detained for taking photographs of a demonstration outside a Tehran prison.

The center has operated for over five years in Tehran, is very well known and credible in Iran, and is a member of the International Federation for Human Rights and has also been awarded a human rights prize by the Human Rights National Commission in France.

Obviously such a move did not bode well for other rights activists in Iran, but she and her colleagues would fulfill their duties no matter what. The collective activities of the human rights activists in Iran have angered the Iranian authorities so much that they have illegally ordered the closing down of two NGOs.

The Nobel committee has described Shirin as a champion of human rights who sees no conflict between Islam and fundamental human rights. As a judge, lawyer, lecturer, writer, and activist, she has spoken out clearly and strongly in her country, Iran, and far beyond its borders. She has stood up as a sound professional, a courageous person, and never heeded the threats to her own safety.

Daniel: First and foremost; Iran has never been and will never be Arab-Moslem. Iran was, and is, Persian; and they worshipped Zarathustra or Zoroaster long before they supposedly converted to ISLAM! Second, but foremost, too; those offices existed and operated for 5 years before Ali Khara-menei and Mah-Moose Ahmadine-Champion-Jackass suddenly realised they had no permit! Third, but foremost, too; after serving as a judge for 5 years – 1974-1979 – suddenly, she is no longer fit to be a judge!? Fourth, but still foremost, too; after 60 years of Human Rights, do any of you Human-Apes out there or in here see any Human-Rights anywhere on the planet? I ask you! That wasn’t the government’s decision only; that was an Islamic decision, too – and one that had been dismantled and re-assembled – taken apart and put together again – to prevent anyone or any entity from criticizing the government’s futile and puerile projects and highly dangerous activities – to the Iranian people especially – or to fit or suit some Islamic Clerics’ ideas of Islam!

As for minors being executed for committing offences or crimes; THAT, I do not agree with Shirin; I agree with the government because that depends on whether they are major offences or crimes or minor ones. Minors who commit major offences or crimes lose their rights as minors. After all, people should not and must not be prosecuted as minors when their offenses or crimes are major ones. Major offences or crimes deserve major sentences – whether the offenders or criminals are minors or not! It's called: Nipping it in the bud!

HIV/AIDS AGAIN II – The Story Unfolds, and there is more to come. ARV DRUGS – a Blessing; or a Curse in Disguise; Doing too Much Bad by Doing too Little Good – in other words, Being Kind to be Cruel

Gleaned from various sources – too many to mention here. What really pissed me off no end was the way they used clients instead of patients. Highly typical of the Health Authorities and the MMMMMMMMMM-Monkey Media to camouflage the truth and the facts about anything and everything! A client is a customer and has a choice; an HIV/AIDS patient is doomed and has no choice! I have done my best to correct this.

Antiretroviral drugs are medications for the treatment of infections by retroviruses, primarily HIV. When such drugs, typically three or four, are taken in combination, the approach is known as highly active antiretroviral therapy: HAART. National Institutes of Health and other organisations recommend offering antiretroviral treatments to all patients with AIDS. However, because of the complexity of selecting and following a regimen, the severity of the side effects, and the importance of compliance to prevent viral resistance, such organisations emphasize the importance of involving patients in therapy choices and strongly recommend analyzing the risks and potential benefits to patients without symptoms.

Although the introduction of antiretroviral drugs as part of HIV clinical care has made AIDS a more manageable chronic illness – with restored economic productivity and social functioning – these effects have been seen only in settings where resources are available to make the drugs affordable, and where there are health-service capacities to optimize their sustained, safe, and effective use. There are multiple requirements for such an effect that can be grouped into three areas: (1) the drugs; (2) the patient; and (3) the health system; PLHA play a crucial role in the design and implementation of antiretroviral drug introduction into HIV/AIDS prevention and care programmes.

ARV Drugs: Antiretroviral drugs

HIV: Human Immunodeficiency Virus: a sexually transmitted virus STI/D that attacks the body's immune system which provides a natural defence system against disease and infection.

AIDS: Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome – 233 and 480

PLHA: People Living with HIV/AIDS

HIV/AIDS is incurable. People with these diseases remain infectious to others for their entire lives. The longer they live, the more people they are likely to infect

There are different classes of antiretroviral drugs that act at different stages of the HIV life cycle: a dramatic reduction in viral load: the level of virus in the blood; with resulting arrest in immune damage is achieved by combining at least three drugs from the various classes of antiretroviral drugs into a cocktail; this three-drug cocktail is called Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy: HAART. Each class of anti-HIV drugs attacks the virus at a different stage of replication while it is growing in the human host lymphocyte cell. The common classes of drugs currently on the market are the nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibiters such as zidovudine (Azidothymidine) AZT, lamivudine (3TC), abacavir; the non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors such as Nevirapine. and efavirenz; and the protease inhibitors such as indinavir, ritonavir and lopinavir; and didanosine DDI; blocks HIV replication or the process of repeating, duplicating, or reproducing exact copies of molecules, genetic material, and/or cells. No doubt there are, or there will be, more such drugs in the pharmaceutical market.

Drug-related issues that influence their use include the following: All ARV Drugs are still very costly, even with recent dramatic price reductions, when compared to Sexually Transmitted Infections or Diseases or Tuberculosis drugs, for example. Side effects of the drugs are common and need to be clinically monitored, and may lead to stopping or changing the drugs, or changing life-styles to reduce alcohol intake in case of liver toxicity. HIV have the tendency and the ability to become resistant to ARV-D, hence the need to combine different classes of ARV-D to treat patients; most ARV-D interact with other drugs commonly used in the treatment of opportunistic diseases such as tuberculosis and fungal infections. This requires adjusting the dosage of the drugs or discontinuing ARV-D while taking other medication.

Most ARV-D currently available have strict medication schedules and/or storage requirements although medical advances – medical evolution – are developing – evolving – new drugs and drug combinations to make them more effective and easier to take with fewer side effects. The protease inhibitors, for example, require a very strict time regimen to be effective; indinavir: every 8 hours on an empty stomach. Some require refrigeration; ritonavir, lopinavir. Others need precautions to avoid severe side effects; indinavir, for example, requires at least 1 litre of water a day to avoid kidney stones; efavirenz can cause insomnia with chaotic dreams, requiring it to be taken only during the day. Pregnant women should not take or use efavirenz.

ARV-D must be a life-long treatment for HIV/AIDS to be manageable. It requires a life-long relationship between the patient, the health team, and ARV-D. In short, it is sure proof of the adage: A MISS IS AS GOOD AS A MILE!

The patient on ARV Drugs or ARV-D

Adherence, also called compliance or concurrence, to the complex and lifelong ARV-D is the key to sustained effectiveness and the hope that HIV will not become resistant to ARV-D. In general, regimens without protease inhibitors are easier to take. Other regimens require taking medication once or twice a day, and do not require strict timing, or an empty stomach and large fluid intake. The following are issues from the patient's perspective that should be considered and incorporated into the planning: Starting ARV-D is committing to lifelong medication and entails enduring the almost universal initial period of unpleasant side effects. It also requires identifying financial resources necessary for regular medical visits, costs of laboratory tests and treatment. The self-discipline and financial burden associated with ARV-D should be discussed at the beginning of treatment. Continuous drug information or even drug counseling by the care provider and pharmacist is essential to improved adherence. Emotional support for patients on ARV-D remains a cornerstone of care; issues of when, how, and to whom, to disclose need to be carefully planned. Treatment failure is common and when there are no alternatives to the initial regimen, there must be support to ensure continuation of care and referral to palliation and home care. ARV-D creates false hopes or ideas of safety among users and result in increased high risk behavior. Although it is biologically likely that effective use of ARV-D would reduce viral loads in vaginal fluids and semen – and as a result reduce sexual transmissions – no studies have demonstrated this at the population level. Services have to ensure ongoing counseling about the need to continue protective action and information on the effects of ARV-D for patients and their sexual partners. Information and education for communities and societies on the realities of ARV-D use should also be in place. ARV-D is neither a cure nor a preventive tool per se. The media will have a key role to play in educating and enlightening the public. PLHA can play an effective role in this.

The Health Systems

In order to optimize the benefits of ARV-D in greatly reducing morbidity and mortality; and in improving the quality of life – Daniel: JEEZ! This is a lethal lie! – The following need to be addressed simultaneously: Training health teams: doctors, nurses, counselors, pharmacists, and laboratory staff, with regular updates on treatment and care options. Re-organising services to integrate HIV care in outpatient departments and at health centers to allow for space, privacy and time; and links to TB-Directly-Observed-Therapy-Short-Courses and STI/D programmes. Improving and maintaining rapid registration of new drugs and drug procurement and management systems to ensure continuous availability of the drugs and avoidance of pilferage and misuse. Expanding and integrating quality Venture-Capital-Trust into health systems as an entry point to prevention and care. Strengthening and upgrading laboratory facilities. Although viral load measurements may not be essential for safe and effective use, CD4-Cell-counts or cheaper alternatives are needed to help providers and patients to decide together when to start and when to switch or stop treatment; also, there needs to be laboratory monitoring for potential side effects; communicating both the benefits and risks of ARV-Drugs-Treatments to the public at large and strengthening and scaling up comprehensive care programmes; management of opportunistic infections, preventive therapies, TB-DOTS, home care, palliative care, and social support to accommodate ARV-D use and continue to care for a majority of patients not on ARV-D. And strengthening prevention programmes to link closely with care and ARV-D treatment programmes and reinforce the need for prevention as a primary goal within and beyond the health sector.

Daniel: Not much to demand from the doomed patients and not much to do for the health teams, is it? It’s a no-win lose-all situation – a futile fight, doomed to failure for the patients, with very slow, very cumbersome, and very painful death as the result. AND! The very high and deathly threat of infecting as many others as possible so long as the patients are alive and able to move and fuck about!

In summary, the Good News is that ARV-D treatments have become a welcome addition to greatly improve the quality of life of many more PLHA. All efforts need to be made to ensure that patients can adhere to them and health systems can accommodate these new interventions – Daniel: The Very Bad News is that ARV-D treatments have become well-established lucrative businesses that provide good life-time jobs – with good salaries and excellent fringe benefits and perks – for the Health Teams and the other Sham-Scam-Con-Syndicates; they are life-time treatments – false ideas of safety and false hopes of being cured, eventually, for the doomed patients; and lethal threats and danger to other Human-Apes!

A retrovirus is a virus whose genetic information is contained in its RNA rather than its DNA. Some retroviruses contain the enzyme reverse transcriptase for generating DNA from RNA and cause AIDS and cancer.

RNA: ribonucleic acid. A nucleic acid containing ribose found in all living cells and which is essential for protein synthesis. RNA also acts instead of DNA as the genetic material in some viruses.

DNA: deoxyribonucleic acid. A nucleic acid molecule in the form of a twisted double strand double helix (spiral) that is the major component of chromosomes and carries genetic information; and which is found in all living organisms except some viruses; it reproduces itself and is the means by which hereditary characteristics pass from one generation to the next. It is the substance that carries an organism’s genetic information – the blue-prints of the organism’s make-up – evolution. Nature’s way, method, and means of protecting and preserving particular species; that is why parents and their children (are supposed to) resemble each other and not their neighbours or friends-of-the-family or milk-men, postmen, or strangers.

T-Cells or the killer cells of the immune system. These components of the blood, also known as T-Lymphocytes, directly attack any foreign substances in the body. Diseases that damage the ability of T cells to function threaten the body's ability to defend itself against infections. These cells stimulate and orchestrate a wide variety of disease-fighting mechanisms. Particularly vulnerable to HIV attack, are specialized helper T-cells known as CD4 cells. When HIV infects a CD4 cell, it commandeers the genetic tools within the cell to manufacture a new HIV virus – evolution. Attack, adopt, adapt, change, move on; survival of the fittest, boldest, most ruthless and resilient – the newly formed HIV virus then leaves the cell, destroying the CD4 cell in the process – and proceeds to search for and destroy more cells.

No existing drugs or medical treatments can completely eradicate HIV from the human body once it has infected its cells!

The loss of CD4 cells endangers health because these cells help other types of immune cells respond to invading organisms. The average healthy person has over 1,000 CD4 cells per micro-liter of blood. In a person infected with HIV, the virus steadily destroys CD4 cells over a period of years, and even months or weeks, depending on the person’s constitution, diminishing their protective ability and weakening the immune system. When the density of CD4 drops to 200 cells per micro-liter of blood, the infected person becomes vulnerable to AIDS-related opportunistic infections and rare cancers and other incurable diseases, which take advantage of the weakened immune defenses. Although the body will attempt to produce more CD4 cells – survival – their numbers will eventually decline and the immune system will stop working; collapse.

HIV is a special type of virus known as a retrovirus. Retroviruses spread by breaking down the DNA in our cells and then re-assembling them to make copies of them. Retroviruses are difficult to treat as they can rapidly alter (mutate) into new strains of viruses – evolution. They evolve into new, improved, and more resilient and resistant viruses, able to withstand any drugs, or adapt to whatever environments, Human-Ape-Scientists invent or evolve.

AIDS: Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome is a term that is used to describe the latter stages of HIV, when the immune system has either stopped working, or become too weak and the person develops a life-threatening condition, such as pneumonia (infection of the lungs) and other serious diseases.

The term AIDS was first used by doctors when the exact nature of HIV was not fully understood. However, the term is no longer widely used because it is too general to describe the many different conditions that can affect a person with HIV. Specialists now prefer to use the terms advanced or late stage HIV infection.HIV is a global pandemic; which means that it is a condition that has spread across the world. The World Health Organisation WHO estimates that since the pandemic began in about 1981 – I hope you’ve read 233. If not, read it after this!

NB: NO EXISTING DRUGS OR MEDICAL TREATMENTS CAN COMPLETELY ERADICATE HIV FROM THE HUMAN BODY ONCE IT HAS INFECTED ITS CELLS! HIV/AIDS is incurable. People with these diseases remain infectious to others for the rest of their lives – the longer they live, the more Human-Apes they are likely to infect.

SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS OR DISEASES: STI or STD – In plain and simple English: Venereal Diseases

Sexually Trasmitted Infections (STI) or Diseases (STD): formerly known as venereal diseases: more than 25 infections are passed from one person to another primarily during sexual contact; STI/D are among the most common infections known – an estimated figure of more than 15 million people in the USA alone become infected with one or more STI/D every year. It has the highest rate in the industrialized world – roughly half of all Americans become infected before 35. Despite its prevalence, studies show that many people are unaware of the risks of contracting it or the serious and sometimes deadly health consequences that may result from an untreated infection – Daniel: You know by now what to do with estimated figures – x 3 at least.

Some STI/D, such as gonorrhea or chlamydia, may cause no symptoms. People who do not know they are infected risk infecting their sexual partners and, in some cases, their unborn children. If left untreated, these diseases may cause debilitating pain or may destroy a woman’s ability to have children – infertility a barren womb. Some can be cured with a single dose of antibiotics but many, such as HIV/AIDS, are incurable. People with these diseases remain infectious to others for the rest of their lives.

Those most at risk for contracting it are people who have unprotected sex—that is, sex without using a latex or polyurethane condom; those who have multiple partners; and those whose sex partners include intravenous drug users who share needles. Studies show that young people between the ages of 13 and 24 are at greater risk for acquiring STI than are older adults because younger people are more likely to have multiple sexual partners rather than a single, long-term relationship. Additionally, young people may be more likely to have unprotected sex and they may find it difficult to admit to their sexual partners they are infected with STI/D. Young people may also be embarrassed or unable to seek treatment for it. This means that they are not only more likely to pass on the disease to other young people; they also have a greater risk of suffering the long-term consequences of untreated STI/D.

STI/D are transmitted by infectious agents: microscopic bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi, and single-celled organisms called protozoa live and that thrive in warm and moist environments in the body, such as the genital areas, mouth, and throat; most STI is spread during sexual intercourse (vaginal or anal), and other forms of sexual contact, such as oral sex – and open-mouth deep-kissing.

In recent years, there has been a large increase in the number of STI/D. The number of people diagnosed with chlamydia, the most common STI/D tripled between 1995 and 2005 in the UK alone – Daniel: the USA and the UK are quoted here to give you an idea of how serious and wide-spread STI/D is since in some countries – and you know which I mean – they don’t have it because they don’t do it; and if they had it because they had done it, they wouldn’t admit it.

Symptoms: The following symptoms could indicate that you have STI/D: an unusual discharge from the vagina, penis or anus; bleeding after sex or between periods; sores, blisters, warts, rashes, irritation or itching near the genitals or anus; pain on passing urine, or needing to pass urine more often; pain during sex; pelvic or lower abdominal pain; infection in the rectum or throat.

You may have STI/D but have no symptoms. It's important to be tested if you think you may be at risk of STI/D. If untreated, STI/D like gonorrhoea and chlamydia may lead to pelvic inflammatory diseases in women, which can damage the fallopian tubes and cause pain, ectopic pregnancies and infertility. Men can experience complications, such as inflammation in the testicles or prostate gland, and painful erections.

Ectopic: in an unusual place or form; also describes an organ or body part appearing or occurring in an unusual position or form

Causes: Most STI/D is caused by micro-organisms such as bacteria (chlamydia, gonorrhoea) or viruses (genital herpes, genital warts, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B). These infections can be passed from one person to another during intimate physical contact; sexual intercourse, non-penetrative genital contact, sex toys shared between partners and oral sex – including open-mouth deep-kissing – can all transmit an infection.

Diagnosis: If you think or feel you have STI/D you can see your GP or visit a Genitor-Urinary-Medicine Clinic (GUM) or Sexual Health Clinic – if there are any.

You can make your own appointment at a GUM or sexual health clinic. All visits are confidential and you don't have to give your real name. Details are not sent to your GP without your consent – Daniel: However, note that these facilities may not be available in Moslem-Arab countries – especially in the Middle East – since morality, virtue, and piety, are the norms. They’ve got Religious Police and Commissions for the Promotion of Vice and the Prevention of Virtue.

Tests often include a physical examination which for women is internal examination. Swabs (to get cells or traces of infection), blood and urine samples are also taken.

Common STI/D: This list covers some common STI/D but there are around 25 of them. If you have one infection, you may be more likely to catch another more serious one.

Chlamydia: is caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis; it is the most common and it is thought to affect approximately one in 100 sexually active people under 25. The bacteria infect the cervix, urethra, rectum, throat and eyes. Symptoms usually occur one to three weeks after infection – Daniel: Remember! Estimates!

Up to eight in 10 women with the infection have only mild symptoms or none at all. In women, symptoms include lower abdominal pain, bleeding after sex, bleeding between periods, unusual vaginal discharge or pain when passing urine. Symptoms in men include, discharge from the penis and pain on passing urine. Approximately half of all men with the infection have symptoms.

If you have a rectal infection you may have a discharge, a pain, an inflammation and sometimes bleeding from the anus. If untreated in women, chlamydia can cause pelvic inflammatory disease which can affect their fertility. Men can develop testicle pain and Reiter's syndrome (arthritis). Chlamydia can be treated with antibiotics.

Genital herpes: Genital herpes is caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV). The first (primary) episode usually causes painful ulcers or sores in or around the anus or genital area. You may also have pain on passing urine and a stinging or tingling in the anus or genital area. You may feel generally unwell. A number of people don't have any symptoms or have sores that are not painful. Some people may have repeated attacks of herpes. These don't tend to be as severe as the first attack.

Cooling the area with ice or cold water or bathing in a salt bath can relieve symptoms. Using a topical anaesthetic, such as lidocaine gel or applying Vaseline petroleum jelly can be soothing. Treatment with an antiviral drug (acyclovir) reduces the severity and duration of symptoms in both the first and repeated outbreaks of infection.

Non-specific urethritis: A number of things may cause non-specific urethritis such as STI/D, gonorrhoea, other bacterial infections, injury to the urethra, or a urinary infection. It occurs in men, and is the inflammation of the urethra. Symptoms include discharge, itching at the end of the penis, pain on passing urine, and an increase in urine. Non-specific urethritis can be treated with antibiotics if it is caused by bacteria.

Urethritis: inflammation of the urethra, usually caused by infection

Urethra: the tube in the reproductive organs of mammals and primates through which urine passes from the bladder out of the body; and semen passes through, in the male, out of the body during ejaculation.

Pubic lice: mainly live in pubic hair, but they can infect other body hair: eyebrows and eyelashes, and even arm-pits. They lay eggs or nits that stick to the hairs. Itching and inflammation is a common symptom, you may also notice black powdery spots from the lice in your underwear. Lice are usually passed via sexual or intimate contact with somebody, but can live on bed sheets or clothes and occasionally be passed this way.

Treatment is with special lotions or shampoos, which may have to be re-applied after seven days. Lice can live in bedding and clothing so these should be washed at a high temperature (at least 50°C) to kill the lice, thus preventing re-infection.

Trichomoniasis: is a sexually transmitted infection, especially of the vagina caused by a protozoan parasite, Trichomonas vaginalis. It infects the penis, bladder and the vagina. Women usually have persistent itching and soreness in and around the vagina and an unusual discharge which may be yellow and smelly or frothy.

Men may have inflammation of the foreskin and discharge from the penis. Men and women may experience pain when passing urine. Up to one in two people don't have any symptoms. Trichomoniasis can be treated with antibiotics.

Genital warts: are caused by certain strains of the human papilloma virus (HPV). They are fleshy growths found on or around the genitals and anus. Sometimes they can be found on fingers and in the mouth or throat. The warts are usually painless but can itch and may bleed or become inflamed.

Warts can be treated by applying a chemical solution, using liquid nitrogen, or medical treatment that involves cooling the body, especially by applying ice packs: cryotherapy. Surgery or laser treatment may also be used. Repeat treatments may be required to get rid of the warts. You shouldn't use treatments designed for removing warts on other parts of the body (such as feet and hands), as they are too harsh for the genital area.

Gonorrhoea: is a bacterial STI/D that infects the urethra, cervix, rectum, mouth and throat. Around half of all women with gonorrhoea won't have any symptoms. Women may notice an increase in vaginal discharge and pain on passing urine if they are infected. Lower abdominal pain and bleeding between periods or heavier periods may also occur.

Men tend to have a white, yellow, or green discharge from the urethra and pain on passing urine. One, or two, in every 10 men have no symptoms. Non-genital infections often have no symptoms. Rectal infection may cause discharge, pain or discomfort and itching. The throat and eyes can also be affected.

Gonorrhoea can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease in women if it's not treated. This can cause infertility and long-term pelvic pain. Men can develop painful erections and infections in the testicles and prostate gland which may cause infertility. Skin problems and inflammation of joints may also occur. On rare occasions gonorrhoea can cause inflammation of the heart, a type of liver disease and meningitis. Ask your nurse or doctor to explain the risk to you. Gonorrhoea can be treated with antibiotics, in tablet form or as an injection.

Syphilis: is a bacterial infection. The first sign of syphilis is a raised lump or lesion usually found on or near the genitals or anus which may then form a painless sore. This can take one to 12 weeks to develop, and may be followed by a general feeling of being unwell with symptoms such as fever, headache and tiredness. White patches on the tongue or on the roof of the mouth may be seen.

These symptoms may gradually clear up but it's important to treat syphilis as soon as possible since over time it can cause major health problems, such as damage to organs, bones and the nervous system.

Very few people get syphilis. However, recent outbreaks have occurred causing a 15-fold increase in the number of infections. Early syphilis can be cured with antibiotics, in tablet form or as an injection. Later syphilis can also be treated. However, better early than late!

Hepatitis B: The Hepatitis-B-Virus (HBV) that causes this disease is highly infectious.

Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments

Hepatitis B is one of the most common infectious diseases in the world. Hepatitis B, a virus that infects the liver, is passed from one person to the other by blood and body fluids. Hepatitis B infections are either acute or chronic. Acute hepatitis B can last from a few weeks to a few months and you may recover yourself. Chronic hepatitis B is a disease that may remain for life and can lead to serious liver diseases, including liver cancer. Preventing hepatitis B is possible as long as you have not been infected with the virus. If you have been infected, there are hepatitis B treatments available.

Like HIV/AIDS, there is no cure for Chronic Hepatitis B, but there are medications to treat Chronic Hepatitis B. There are two types of Chronic-HBV treatments available: anti-viral and interferon medications or drugs – Daniel: These medications or drugs only check the virus from increasing further and prolong the lives of the Stricken-Apes, and thereby make them more dangerous to the rest of the Human-Apes within their reach – the longer they live, the more Human-Apes they are likely to infect!

Prevention: Simple measures can reduce the risk of catching an infection. Safer sex methods include using condoms for vaginal and anal intercourse, oral sex, and when sharing sex toys. This can help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and reduce the risk of many STI/D. Reducing the number of partners – on both sides – also reduces overall risk.

Previous partners who may be at risk should be contacted to prevent further spread of infection. Clinics can send anonymous notifications on your behalf if you are willing to provide details. People who are at increased risk of catching an STI/D, such as those who change sexual partners frequently, should consider having a check-up at a GUM or health clinic every few months. Once diagnosed with an STI/D, you should wait until the doctor gives you the all clear before you resume sexual relations.

Over the last dozen years I made 13 trips to Baghdad to lobby the government to keep CNN's Baghdad bureau open and to arrange interviews with Iraqi leaders. Each time I visited, I became more distressed by what I saw and heard, awful things that could not be reported because doing so would have jeopardized the lives of Iraqis, particularly those on our Baghdad staff.

For example, in the mid-1990's one of our Iraqi cameramen was abducted. For weeks he was beaten and subjected to electroshock torture in the basement of a secret police headquarters because he refused to confirm the government's ludicrous suspicion that I was the Central Intelligence Agency's Iraq station chief. CNN had been in Baghdad long enough to know that telling the world about the torture of one of its employees would almost certainly have gotten him killed and put his family and co-workers at grave risk.

Working for a foreign news organization provided Iraqi citizens no protection. The secret police terrorized Iraqis working for international press services who were courageous enough to try to provide accurate reporting. Some vanished, never to be heard from again. Others disappeared and then surfaced later with whispered tales of being hauled off and tortured in unimaginable ways. Obviously, other news organizations were in the same bind we were when it came to reporting on their own workers.

We also had to worry that our reporting might endanger Iraqis not on our payroll. I knew that CNN could not report that Saddam Hussein's eldest son, Uday, told me in 1995 that he intended to assassinate two of his brothers-in-law who had defected and also the man giving them asylum, King Hussein of Jordan. If we had gone with the story, I was sure he would have responded by killing the Iraqi translator who was the only other participant in the meeting. After all, secret police thugs brutalized even senior officials of the Information Ministry, just to keep them in line (one such official has long been missing all his fingernails).

Still, I felt I had a moral obligation to warn Jordan's monarch, and I did so the next day. King Hussein dismissed the threat as a madman's rant. A few months later Uday lured the brothers-in-law back to Baghdad; they were soon killed.

I came to know several Iraqi officials well enough that they confided in me that Saddam Hussein was a maniac who had to be removed. One Foreign Ministry officer told me of a colleague who, finding out his brother had been executed by the regime, was forced, as a test of loyalty, to write a letter of congratulations on the act to Saddam Hussein. An aide to Uday once told me why he had no front teeth: henchmen had ripped them out with pliers and told him never to wear dentures, so he would always remember the price to be paid for upsetting his boss. Again, we could not broadcast anything these men said to us.

Last December, when I told Information Minister Muhammad Said al-Sahhaf that we intended to send reporters to Kurdish-controlled northern Iraq, he warned me they would "suffer the severest possible consequences." CNN went ahead, and in March, Kurdish officials presented us with evidence that they had thwarted an armed attack on our quarters in Erbil. This included videotaped confessions of two men identifying themselves as Iraqi intelligence agents who said their bosses in Baghdad told them the hotel actually housed C.I.A. and Israeli agents. The Kurds offered to let us interview the suspects on camera, but we refused, for fear of endangering our staff in Baghdad.

Then there were the events that were not unreported but that nonetheless still haunt me. A 31-year-old Kuwaiti woman, Asrar Qabandi, was captured by Iraqi secret police occupying her country in 1990 for crimes, one of which included speaking with CNN on the phone. They beat her daily for two months, forcing her father to watch. In January 1991, on the eve of the American-led offensive, they smashed her skull and tore her body apart limb by limb. A plastic bag containing her body parts was left on the doorstep of her family's home.

I felt awful having these stories bottled up inside me. Now that Saddam Hussein's regime is gone, I suspect we will hear many, many more gut-wrenching tales from Iraqis about the decades of torment. At last, these stories can be told freely.

In my opinion, even without chemical or biological or nuclear weapons, the atrocities in Iraq are justification to remove Saddam from power. It was reason enough with Slobodan Milošević and no one complained.

NEWS NOT IN THE NEWS IV – 500 Metric Tons of Uranium Yellowcake Secretly Moved From Iraq to Canada – And they all said George Bush had lied

Secret US mission hauls uranium from Iraq to Canada, and Mum’s the word

7^th July 2008; the American Forces Press Service released a statement of the completion of a classified mission dubbed “Operation McCall” – the transfer of 500 metric tons of yellowcake from the Tuwaitha Nuclear Research Center near Baghdad to Canada at the request of the Iraqi government.

Yellowcake is a concentrate of uranium that results from the refinement of uranium ore.  It is used for making fuel for nuclear power plants and to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons.

According to published reports including CBS news, the United States secretly moved a huge stockpile of yellowcake over a two week period, from Iraq to Canada, partly to keep it from falling into the hands of either terrorists or foreign governments such as Iran. The operation reportedly took more than a year in the making and took three months to execute.  It included carrying 3,500 barrels of yellowcake by road from Baghdad, then flying them on 37 military flights to an atoll in the Indian Ocean, then carrying them aboard a U.S. ship bound for Montreal.  In all, it added up to more than 500 metric tons of material from Saddam Hussein's nuclear programme.

The Iraqi government sold the yellowcake to a Canadian uranium company and it will be used in Ontario, Canada, for use in nuclear reactors.

A CBS report stated: in a symbolic way, the mission linked the current attempts to stabilize Iraq with some of the high-profile claims about Saddam's weapons capabilities in the buildup to the 2003 invasion.  Accusations that Saddam had tried to purchase more yellowcake from the African nation of Niger, and an article by a former US ambassador refuting the claims, led to a wide-ranging probe into Washington leaks that reached high into the Bush administration.

It appears that although American troops found the yellowcake in 2003 after invading Iraq, they had to sit on the information and the yellowcake itself, for fear of terrorists attempting to steal it. It was guarded and kept safe by our military on a 23,000-acre site with large sand beams surrounding the site.

That was vindication for the Bush administration, having been attacked mercilessly by the liberal media and the far-left pundits on the blogosphere. Now that it has been proven that President Bush did not lie about Saddam's nuclear ambitions, one would think the mainstream media would report the story. Once the AP released the story, the mainstream media should have picked it up and broadcast it worldwide. That never happened, due in large part to the fact that the mainstream media would have to admit they were wrong about Bush's war motives all along. Thankfully, the AP got it right when it reported: The removal of 550 metric tons of yellowcake, the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment, was a significant step toward closing the books on Saddam's nuclear legacy.

I know that there are a lot of obtuse naive morons in the US of Ass-holes but surely they do not think and believe that Saddam Hussein was stock-piling all those yellowcakes for weddings, parties, and other celebrations!? That would be way too much!

Now that Saddam's uranium has been made public and is no longer a threat to the world, one would think they would apologize and admit they were wrong. Don't count on it. A national defence analyst says President Bush should be commended for keeping quiet about a discovery that could have blown his critics out of the water.

A retired Major General, a decorated combat veteran, wrote on his Blog: President Bush kept mum about the discovery in order to keep terrorists in the dark. He made a very brave stand, a resolute stand in which he decided that he wasn't going to blab everything to the press, and in the meantime while he kept it quiet, he was buying time from the terrorists to get all that stuff out of the country. So that's what was done – he just kept his mouth shut.

The press beat him to death for the last several years, and it turned out that there were weapons of mass destruction and that Saddam had an active nuclear programme and the material could have been used to make nuclear weapons.

President Bush's actions took courage, and all Americans should be thankful to have such a brave president who put the welfare of the USA and the American people above personal considerations.

President Bill Clinton, 4^th February 1998 – during a presentation at the Pentagon defending the decision to conduct military strikes against Iraq: One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop WMD and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line.

President Bill Clinton, 17^th February 1998: If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programme. Bill Clinton went to the Pentagon on that occasion to be briefed by top military officials on Iraq and WMD. His remarks followed the briefing.

Madeline Albright, 18^th February 1998 – Secretary of State for Bill Clinton, during an appearance at Ohio State University: Iraq is a long way from the USA but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face.

Sandy Berger 18^th February 1998: National Security Adviser under Clinton at the same Ohio State University appearance as Madeline Albright: He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983.

Letter to President Bill Clinton, signed by Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others on 9^th October 1998: We urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the US Constitution and Laws, to take the necessary actions, including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programmes. According to the U.S. Senate website, the text of this letter was signed by several Senators, both Democrats and Republicans – including Senators John McCain and Joseph Lieberman.

Nancy Pelosi, 16^th December 1998: Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process. The text of this statement by Nancy Pelosi is posted on her congressional website.

Madeline Albright – Secretary of State under Clinton. She was addressing the embargo of Iraq that was in effect at the time and criticism that it may have prevented needed medical supplies from getting into the country. 10^th November 1999: There has never been an embargo against food and medicine. It's just that Saddam Hussein has chosen to spend his (the Iraqi’s) money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies – she forgot to include hundreds of statues and busts of himself that dotted the streets of Baghdad like lamp-posts.

Letter to President Bush – signed by Senator Bob Graham and others – 5^th December 2001: There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programmes continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile programme to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies. The only letter with this quote from 5^th December 2001 that was found did not include the participation of Senator Bob Graham, but it was signed by 9 other senators including Democrat Joe Lieberman. It urged President Bush to take quicker action against Iraq.

Carl Levin – in remarks to a Senate committee – 19^th September 2002: We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandated of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them.

Al Gore, 23^rd September 2002: We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout (Iraq) his country. This, and the quote below, was part of prepared remarks for a speech in San Francisco to the Commonwealth Club: Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power.

Ted Kennedy, 27^th September 2002 – Part of a speech he gave at Johns Hopkins: We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction.

Robert Byrd, 3^rd October 2002: The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons….the floor of the Senate during a debate over the resolution that would authorize using force against Iraq. He was urging caution about going to war and commented that even though there was confidence about the weapons in Iraq, there had not been the need to take military action for a number of years and he asked why there would be the need at that point – We are confident of it, but why do it? Trust a politician to face one direction and talk in the other direction!

John F. Kerry, 9^th October 2002: I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force, if necessary, to disarm Saddam Hussein, because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security. Senator Kerry's comments were made to the Senate as part of the same debate over the resolution to use force against Saddam Hussein.

Jay Rockefeller, 10^th October 10, 2002: There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years. We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction. Senator Rockefeller's statements were part of the debate over using force against Saddam Hussein.

Henry Waxman, 10^th October 2002: He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do…his contribution to the Senate debate over going to war.

Hillary Clinton, 10^th October 2002: In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members.  It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Senator Clinton acknowledged the threat of Saddam Hussein but said she did not feel that using force at that time was a good option – he’s dangerous, but so what; leave him alone. He’s going to kill us, but don’t kill him first.

John F. Kerry, 23^rd January 2003 – in a speech to Georgetown University: without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation; and now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction. So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real
