DAMASCUS (Reuters): Syria promised Arab Leaders at the Arab League Summit on Saturday to cooperate in ending the political crisis in Lebanon, and regional power Saudi Arabia said it saw Damascus as the main cause of the crisis, and part of the solution.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP): In a press conference broadcast live on some Arab TVs during the Arab League summit's opening session in Damascus, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal, slammed Syria for obstructing Lebanese Peace Efforts and said that The KSA had never boycotted a summit before.

He blamed The KSA’s boycott of The Arab League Summit on Syria for not abiding by the Arab League Consensus to solve the stale-mated, dead-locked, and road-blocked presidential crisis in Lebanon, and implicitly blasted Syria for worsening most of the crises in the Middle East.

Faisal called for the Arab League to punish any and all member states that breach common resolutions or agreements since the absence of credibility and seriousness in implementing them reduce the League to A FARCE; and make fools, if not monkeys, of the other members and A SHOW-PIECE or MAJOR-MONKEY of the Secretary General. They may call it punishment or disciplinary measures or actions.

My not-so-humble comments:

For 63 years since she joined The Arab League in 1945, Lebanon attended each and every Arab League Summit in Arab cities in Arab countries all over the world; and every time she attended, she was given the usual Bull-shit Reception and Treatment: Hugs and kisses on the cheeks and a place with comfortable seats and microphones; all the while looking at her Syrian Puppet-President and his Delegation of Syrian Pawns with scorn and contempt. And when it was her turn, Lebanon’s Syrian Puppet-President made his speech; written, checked, and editted by Syria; containing pleas and requests by Syria; demanding resolutions and moves (by The Arab League) all to the benefit and in the interests of Syria. Then! Later, Iran joined the fun.

In short, dear readers and fellow-Apes; to The Arab World and the rest of the world through The Arab League, Lebanon’s Head of State, or Maronite Moron President, or Presiding Prick, according to the Gospel of Syria and Iran, was the Mouth-piece of Syria and Iran but to Syria and Iran, and to Daniel in The Lion’s Den, Lebanon’s President was Syria’s and Iran’s ASS through which they FARTED in turn!

BUT! Not that time! Fouad Saniora, Saad Harriri, and Walid Jumblatt - Sunnis and a Druze - supported by the sensible Christians (they only supported them because if they had decided to attend the Summit, they couldn’t have stopped them) decided that ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH!

SUNNIS and a DRUZE decided to seek and salvage the welfare, and protect the interests, of the Lebanese Christians in particular, especially the Maronite Morons, and all the Lebanese people in general, after they, the Maronite Morons themselves had tossed them onto the garbage-heap or rubbish-pile, if not flushed them down the drain! The Christians in particular and all the Lebanese people in general, may not know or realise what Fouad Saniora, Saad Harriri, and Walid Jumblatt; supported by the sensible and patriotic Sunnis, Shiites, Druze, and Christians among the Lebanese Apes have done for them, but I, Daniel in The Lion’s Den, do! Fouad Saniora said yesterday that his government stayed away from the Arab Summit to demonstrate the Lebanese people's refusal to accept a presidential vacuum. In a televised speech, Saniora addressed the Arab community, stressing that Lebanon could only be represented by a Christian president, who would reflect the country's diversity and was the only Christian Arab President among all the various Heads of States!

Lebanon has been without a president since Emile Le-Hood stepped down at the end of his term in November last year (2007). Parliamentary sessions to elect a new head of state have been postponed on 17 occasions - by Syria’s and Iran's Champion Mole, Rat, Jackal, Hyena, and Fiend, Nabih Beriberi Berri - as part of the power struggle between the government and the opposition, which Saniora and his allies accuse of obstructing the process on behalf of Syria and Iran.

Syria obstructed the Arab initiative to end Lebanon's crisis and impeded Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa's efforts to push forward a settlement in Lebanon and yet the Arab-Jarab-League went ahead, anyway, and held the Summit in Damascus in Syria!

The Lebanese people demanded that Syria withdraw its troops from their country (2005) not to trade or exchange Syrian tutelage for any other foreign tutelage, and the Lebanese people asked for an international investigation and an international tribunal to try suspects in the murder of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri for justice and not for revenge.

Saniora said that Lebanon will no longer accept or allow Lebanon to be used as the arena - the battleground - for regional conflicts, or as the shit-house for the rest of the world!

IRAN and IRAQ are two of the original State Members of The UNITED NATIONS and yet all through the terrible war between these two states – albeit trouble-makers; both of them – The UN did nothing, even though it could and should have done everything. I can still see, with my mind’s eyes, the hundreds of thousands of IRANIAN youths – all of them in their teens and even below – barely able to hold the rifles that had been thrust into their hands, crying while rushing to their deaths - screaming Allah-U-Akbar before they set off, and Mama when they got half-way - with the keys to paradise hung around their necks and an engraved pass in the pockets of their tunics; signed and sealed by the late Ayatollah Khomeni, who ordered them to their deaths with his blessings - I wonder how many virgins that heartless and mindless Khomeni got for such a feat!

IRAQ and IRAN are two of the original State Members of THE UN and The ARAB LEAGUE and both of these organisations either stood by, or sat by, and played with their toes and looked on with one eye, and looked the other way with the other eye, while IRAQ and IRAN slaughtered, butchered, and mutilated each other.

The late Saddam Hussein used IRAQ – and KUWAIT, too, for a while – as his own personal properties and as his stomping grounds, and treated the IRAQIS and the KUWAITIS as his own personal slaves, and that sorry and miserable state of affairs would have continued to date if The USA and BRITAIN and the coalition forces had not intervened and done what they had to do and what was necessary, AND! The groups first issued the warnings in October 2007, but since then the crisis engulfing Somalia has deteriorated dramatically while access to people in need has continued to decrease; 360,000 people have been newly displaced and an additional half a million people are reliant on humanitarian assistance.

With financing from the government, the World Bank and other donors, some 35 kilometres of rural roads had been built over the previous two years to 10 remote communities. MOZAMBIQUE / RHODESIA / SOUTH AFRICA

The Mozambique Civil War began in 1975 following the war of independence. The ruling party, Front for Liberation of Mozambique (FRELIMO), was violently opposed from 1977 by the Rhodesian, and later South African, funded Mozambique Resistance Movement (RENAMO). Over 900,000 died in fighting and from starvation - these are only estimates since the dead cannot call out to declare where they fell and lay - and five million civilians were displaced, many were made amputees by landmines, a legacy from the war that continues to plague Mozambique. Fighting ended in 1992 and the country's first free elections were held in 1994.

MALI BAMAKO, Monday 24^th  March 2008 (IRIN-News): Citizens are divided on what should be the next steps following the latest round of violence between Tuareg rebels and Malian army officers, which has led to the kidnapping of up to 30 Malian soldiers and the deaths of three soldiers and five civilians in Mali's northern Kidal region; fighting broke out on 20^th  March 18 km from the town of Tin-Zaouatene when rebels ambushed a government military supply convoy capturing soldiers and seizing as many as eight vehicles.

BAMAKO, Wednesday 26^th March 2008 (Reuters): Tuareg rebels raided a remote town in northern Mali close to where Al Qaeda militants are thought to be holding two tourists as hostage.

THE MALI CIVIL WAR (1990-1996): The Tuareg Rebellion was an uprising of the 1990s by various Tuareg groups in Mali and Niger with the aim of achieving autonomy or forming their own nation-state. The insurgency occurred in a period following the regional famine of the 1980s and subsequent refugee crisis, and a time of generalized political repression and crisis in both nations.

Longstanding hostility between the Tuareg, nomadic Berber Muslim people, and Mali's dictatorial president erupted into bloody conflict between Tuareg separatists and government troops in the Menaka area in late June 1990. Tuareg groups continued to clash with troops in the northern region of Mali, a large, landlocked West African country lying partly in the Sahara Desert. Despite peace accords signed in 1991 and 1992, fighting continued along the Mali-Mauritanian frontier and in the Bamba and Gao areas (the Niger Bend). Later, the Unified Movements and Fronts of Azawad (MFUA), signed two agreements with the government (1993 and 1994) that allowed the incorporation of some 7,000 Tuareg rebels into the regular army and other government bodies. In October 1995, Mali began the repatriation of some 120,000 Tuareg refugees living in camps in neighboring Mauritania, Algeria, Burkina Faso, and Niger. The Tuareg rebel groups agreed to disarm and demobilize, thus officially ending the civil war on 27^th March, 1996.

MAURITANIA ATAR 20^th March 2008 (IRIN): Mauritania is facing financial fallout in the wake of three terrorist-related attacks between December 2007 and February 2008, with the cancellation of the Paris-Dakar Rally, investors turning away, and the halving of tourist numbers. Critical problems facing Mauritanians are slavery, human rights abuses, racial divisions, and environmental degradation. Traditional forms of mistreatment of women continue, both in urban and rural areas.  It consists of force-feeding adolescent girls (gavage) and young women to fatten them so they will be more pleasing to men; and the forced mutilation of female genital organs.

THE DRC 22^nd Jan 2008 Conflicts and humanitarian crises - war-related causes - in the Democratic Republic of Congo have taken the lives of an estimated 5.4 million people since 1998 and continue to leave as many as 45,000 dead every month, according to a major mortality survey released today by the International Rescue Committee – the deadliest documented conflicts since WW II. The vast majority died from non-violent causes such as malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia and malnutrition; easily preventable and treatable conditions when people have access to health care and nutritious food.

ZIMBABWE CIVIL WAR (1971-1979) Needless to say, 9 years of civil war caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands and the maiming, displacement, dispersion, and despair of hundreds of thousands more. Zimbabwe's current economic and food crisis, described by some observers as the country's worst humanitarian crisis since independence on 18^th April 1980, has been attributed, in varying degrees, to a drought affecting the entire region, the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and the government's price controls and land reforms.

ETHIOPIAN CIVIL WAR (1974-1991) If 9 years of civil war caused all that damage - see Zimbabwe Civil War above - then it doesn’t need much to imagine what 18 years of civil war caused.

KENYA (AP): Kenya actually barely escaped from becoming another Rwanda. Kenya has long been an exception to the regional rule of interminable wars and economic ruin. East Africa's richest country by far and familiar to safari lovers, Kenya is supposed to be the island of stability in a sea of calamities; the rare African success story where majestic game parks lure nearly a million foreign tourists on safari each year, where the telephones work, electricity flows, children go to school in shorts and knee socks, and even bureaucrats stick to the rules.

Kenya has long been a haven for other countries' refugees. It is from Kenya's up-to-standard ports and airfields that the world's relief agencies wage their missions into neighboring war zones. So the sight of Kenyan refugees is both startling and more than a little disquieting. Kenya today is a story of tribal militias, ethnic cleansing, and the danger of civil war.

By the benighted standards of East Africa, the spectacle of refugees is all too grimly familiar. In a dense labyrinth of makeshift huts with scrap-metal walls and roofs fashioned from black plastic sheeting, children in rags, with bare feet and smudged faces, loiter aimlessly in a stream of muddy sewage. Their grim-faced parents, routed from their homes and stripped of their livelihoods, desperately scrounge for food and firewood in the forest nearby, their lives in chaos and their future uncertain. This could be anywhere in the counter-clockwise arc of despair that has blighted this part of the world for generations: Somalia, Ethiopia, the Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi (AP).

BEIRUT: After Arab League Secretary General Amiable-Amr Moussa-the-Mouse had urged Lebanon to take part in an Arab Summit this weekend in Damascus, the Lebanese government on Tuesday decided to boycott the summit without ruling out the possibility of sending a message that could be read at the summit: “Lebanon's absence from the summit does not imply any negative stands against Syria, but rather an occasion to assert Lebanon's democracy, sovereignty and independence,”

Saudi Arabia and Egypt have blamed Syria - which was the dominant political and military force in Lebanon for decades - for obstructing the election. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan have decided to send low-level diplomats to the summit.

Amine Gemayel was the only member of the 14^th March Football Team who favored attending the summit and said that Lebanon should send a representative to make its voice heard. BY GOD ONE MORE TIME! Lebanon to make her voice heard! The UN's neglect of the Rwandan Genocide, under comprehensive media coverage, drew severe criticism. SIERRA LEONE: Sierra Leone, in West Africa, emerged from a decade of civil war in 2002, with the help of Britain, the former colonial power, aided by a large United Nations peacekeeping mission. More than 17,000 foreign troops disarmed tens of thousands of rebels and militia fighters. The country now faces the challenges of reconciliation and reconstruction. 

SOMALIA: There is no national government in Somalia. While parts of the north are relatively peaceful, including much of the self-declared Republic of Somaliland, inter-clan and inter-factional fighting can flare up with little warning, and kidnapping, murder and other threats to foreigners can occur unpredictably in many regions.

IVORY COAST: For more than three decades after independence, under the leadership of its first president, the Ivory Coast was conspicuous for its religious and ethnic harmony and its well-developed economy. It all ended with a coup which toppled the successor-government in 1999. The seeds of xenophobic-ethnic discord resulted in an uprising in 2000. Scores were killed. In September 2002 a troop mutiny escalated into a full-scale rebellion against discrimination in Ivorian politics. Thousands were killed in the conflict. Although the fighting has stopped, Ivory Coast is tense and divided. French and UN peacekeepers patrol the buffer zone which separates the north, held by rebels known as the New Forces, and the government-controlled south.

BEIRUT: Hezballah leader, Sayyed Hassan Nesa-Allah Nesrallah, said yesterday, Monday that the opposition is determined to reach a political settlement to Lebanon's ongoing political crisis. In what was described as the most moderate of his speeches, Nesa-Allah stressed that the period that will follow the upcoming Arab summit in Damascus will not be any different from the current period.

In other words, dear readers and fellow-Apes, Lebanon shall continue to remain without a president and we, the opposition and Syria’s and Iran’s FIENDS, shall continue to hamstring the government and spike all its projects - especially those that might hinder Syria’s and Iran’s plans, purposes, aims, and goals. In the meantime, we, the opposition, shall make sure that the Eye-sore Nose-sore Income-sore Nerve-sore Tent City continues to thrive and increase in squalor and stench.

Nesa-Allah spoke of expected initiatives by the opposition referring to recent remarks by his allies, Parliament Sneaker-Speaker, Nabih Beriberi Berri, and Free Patriotic Movement Leader, MP Michael Aouu-Aoun.

In other words, we, the opposition and Syria’s and Iran’s FIENDS, shall send more mobs and hordes to block main streets and roads leading to the airport and other important and strategic places with burning tyres and rubbish - these will cause and give them, and all the Lebanese people and other inhabitants, both near and far, since the wind will complete our fine work for us by carrying the highly toxic and dangerous chemicals all over Lebanon and beyond - BROCHITIS, PNEUMONIA, TUBERCULOSIS, OR LUNG-CANCER; OR ALL OF THEM COMBINED!

Speaking at a ceremony to mark the 40^th day since the assassination of Hezballah military commander Imad Mughniyeh, Nesrallah vowed to avenge the death and said that most Lebanese are united in their wish to see Israel, which he has blamed for the killing, disappear; and that a poll, conducted by clerics after Mughniyeh's murder, showed that most Lebanese - be they Sunni, Christian, Druze or Shiite - wanted to see Israel disappear - that, dear readers and fellow-Apes, is all well and good, so long as Israel disappears alone and does not take us all - especially poor helpless Lebanon - with her into the void; which is exactly what will happen! Also, the Sunnis he mentioned are Omar Harami and his clones; the Christians are Michael Aouu and his shadows; the Shiites are the Shukhs who are his sub-slaves; and the Druzes are Talal El Ars and Wi'am Wahaha and those that are paid to listen to them - all Syria's and Iran's Moles, Puppets, Pawns, Slaves, and FIENDS!

He said Hezballah will choose the time, the place, the way, and the means by which it will avenge the death of the military commander, who was killed in a car-bombing in an upper-class neighbourhood in Damascus on Tuesday, 12^th February.

HORSE-SHIT! Nothing like that could take place in Damascus - or in Syria, for that matter - without the knowledge and approval of Syria’s Moukhabarat, and/or their actual participation in it; that is if THEY did not commit the crime themselves!

For the past 15 months, gunmen associated with Taliban militants and other armed radical groups have torched more than 20 schools and killed 17 students, teachers, and staff. In several districts, 98 schools remain closed due to insecurity - the fear of being killed for wanting to learn something other than death and destruction.

A 13-year-old student was reportedly shot dead on his way to Zokur high school in Lashkargah in February 2007.

Four days later armed assailants started shooting indiscriminately outside Karte Laghan School, killing a student and a gatekeeper, officials said.

As at Tuesday, 18^th March, 2008, at least 3,996 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003 - according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes eight military civilians. At least 3,253 were killed as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers.
