Dear Readers and Fellow-Apes; 2008 was a Murky and Hapless Year! Let us hope that 2009 does not turn out to be even  More Murky and Hapless!

I intentionally did not wish you a Merry Christmas, because Christmas is another story for another Posting at another time; and I do not wish you a Happy New Year, since I believe that ONLY FOOLS ARE, OR CAN BE, HAPPY ALL YEAR ROUND. I do, however, wish all of you A GOOD YEAR! With a little Good in one's life, one can be a little happy, which is all one can ask for in one's short sweet dream one calls a life-time. BY GOD AND SATAN!

A Jack of many trades and master of all; I am honest to the core and I hate lies, deceits, pretensions, hypocrisy, treachery, betrayal, and stoic compliance; and I despise – and actually pity – Human-Apes who follow-the-herd-or-pack

I expose and reveal the lies, deceits, pretensions, hypocrisy, treachery, betrayal, and blind, deaf, and stoic compliance, and Human-Apes who follow-the-herd-or-pack; I tell or write the truth; and I say what I mean and mean what I say

I fear nothing; least of all, death

If I must fear anything at all in life, then let me fear what I think and  know of myself; because, in the end, one’s knowledge and opinion of oneself is what counts most. All the world may think and believe one is such and such, but one knows one is such and such. Also, I like to look in the mirror and like what I see and know about me.

I invite comments, remarks, criticisms, and even insults – so long as they are straight to the point, in order for me to correct or adjust myself accordingly. What I do not welcome and won’t accept or tolerate is HORSE-SHIT!

Dear readers and felow-Apes; with every page, every report or article, every paragraph, every sentence, every word, and every letter; I thank you for taking the trouble and the time to read My Not-So-Humble Comments.

THE RIGHT TO RETURN Part II – The Vast Chasm Between Bleaters, Brayers, Barkers, Beggars, Trouble-makers and Farters; and Survivors, Integrated Immigrants, Success Seekers, Strivers & Thrivers

Compared to, the horrors faced by the Sudanese in Darfur which is still taking place, the Rwandans in Rwanda and especially the Jews in the holocaust and the Armenians in the genocide; the Plights of the Palestinians are Blessings in Disguise……

Gleaned from various sources:

The Armenian Genocide: Armenian: Հայոց Ցեղասպանութիւն, Turkish: Ermeni Soykırımı – also known as the Armenian Holocaust, the Armenian Massacres and, by Armenians as the Great Calamity Մեծ Եղեռն – refers to the deliberate and systematic destruction (genocide) of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire during and just after World War I; and which was characterized by massacres and deportations involving forced long marches under conditions designed to lead to the death of the deportees, with the total number of Armenian deaths held to have been between 1 and 1.5 million. Several other ethnic groups were similarly attacked by the Ottoman Empire during that period including Assyrians and Greeks; scholars consider the events to be part of the same policy of extermination. Remember: estimates x 1.5 at least, so that would bring the total figure to not fewer than 2 million and probably 2.5 or 3 million.

It is acknowledged to have been one of the first modern, systematic genocides, as many Western sources point to the sheer scale of the death toll as evidence for a systematic, organized plan to eliminate the Armenians.

The date of the onset of the genocide is conventionally held to be 24th April, 1915, the day the Ottoman authorities arrested some 250 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Constantinople. Thereafter, the Ottoman military uprooted Armenians from their homes and forced them to march for hundreds of miles, depriving them of food and water, to the desert of what is now Syria. Massacres were indiscriminate of age or gender, with rapes and other physical and sexual abuses commonplace. The Armenian Genocide is the second most-studied case of genocide.

The Republic of Turkey, the successor state of the Ottoman Empire, does not accept the word genocide as an accurate description of the events. In recent years, it has faced repeated calls to accept the events as genocide. To date, twenty-one countries have officially recognised the events of the period as genocide, and most scholars and historians accept this view. The majority of Armenian communities (Diasporas) were founded as a result of the Armenian genocide. So what? Whether Turkey accepts or not, what’s the difference? The past is water under the bridge and 1915 is 103 years ago! Let the dead bury their dead. Only Crabs can look back while moving forward or backwards or sideways or whichever-ways and Human-Apes are not Crabs! BY GOD AND SATAN! Hey! Satan deserves more fear and respect. He has earned them. He knows Human-Apes well and knows how to handle or mishandle, and treat or mistreat, them! God is a kindly merciful compassionate all-forgiving old man with pure white hair and a pure white beard. He prefers and favours, and actually respects and is generous to the Profligate Prodigal son, but ignores rejects and demeans, and actually despises the hardworking honest loyal obedient diligent and perseverant son….But that is another story for another posting, another day, and another time; so stand by.

The Lebanese Armenians: Armenian Լիբանանահայեր Arabic أرمن لبنان are Lebanese citizens of Armenian descent. There has been an Armenian presence in Lebanon for centuries. While there has not been a census for a few decades, because the balance between Christians and Moslems is considered to be a volatile subject, it is estimated that there are 150,000 Armenians in Lebanon. The number was higher before the Lebanese Civil War, but the community lost a portion of its population to immigration.

The Armenian presence in Lebanon during the Ottoman period was minimal; however, there was a large influx of Armenians after the Armenian Genocide. The refugees endured many difficulties and had to adapt to the Arab lifestyle. When the Armenians first came to Lebanon they inhabited or settled in the area of Karantina. Later on, a thriving Armenian community was formed in Bourj Hammoud.

In 1939, after the French had ceded the Syrian territory of Alexandretta to Kemalist Turkey, Armenians and other Christians and Arabs from the area moved to the Bekaa Valley. The Armenians were grouped in Anjar, where a community exists to this day.

Kemalist Ideology: or Kemalism Turkish: Kemalist İdeoloji, Kemalizm, Atatürkçülük, Atatürkçü Düşünce or also known as the Six Arrows Turkish: Altı Ok is the principle that defines the basic characteristics of the Republic of Turkey. It was developed by the Turkish national movement and its leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Kemalist ideology, which found its expression in Lemal's Reforms, sought to create a modern, democratic and secular nation-state, guided by educational and scientific progress based on the principles of Positivism, Rationalism and the Enlightenment.

During the Lebanese Civil War, Armenians, grouped in Bourj Hammoud and Anjar, did their best to remain neutral. There are three prominent Armenian political parties in Lebanon: the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Tashnag), the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party (Hunchag) and the Armenian Liberal Democratic Party (Ramgavar Party). They play significant roles and have influence in all facets of Armenian life. Various Armenian guerilla organizations, such as ASALA became active in Lebanon, and used it as a launching pad for their operations.

ASALA: the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia was a militant Marxist-Leninist organization, that operated from 1975 to 1986 and was responsible for the assassination of many Turkish diplomats and their families. The group also operated under other names such as The Orly Group and the 3 October Organization. The intention of ASALA was purportedly to compel the Turkish Government to acknowledge publicly its alleged responsibility for the deaths of more than 1.5 million Armenians in 1915, pay reparations, and cede territory for an Armenian homeland. ASALA was listed as a terrorist organization by the United States in 1980s.

Put forth by the Armenian bloc of the Lebanese Parliament, the legislature unanimously approved a resolution on 4th April 1997, calling for the commemoration of the 82nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman government. After the 2006 Israel-Hezballah conflict, Turkey proposed to send some of its troops to Lebanon as a part of the UNIFIL troops, but most Armenians strongly opposed Turkish involvement.

Bourj Hammoud: an Armenian city in Lebanon

Bourj Hammoud; Armenian: Պուրճ Համուտ Arabic: برج حموﺪ is a suburb in east Beirut, Lebanon, in the Metn district, heavily populated by Armenians as it is where most survivors of the Armenian Genocide settled. Bourj Hammoud is an industrious area and is one of the most densely-populated cities in the Middle East. It is divided into seven major regions, namely Dora, Sader, Nahr Beirut, Anbari, Mar Doumet, Naba'a and Gheilan. It seems the only industries the Palestinians are good at are baby-production factories and strife.Bourj Hamoud has a majority Armenian population and a notable number of Lebanese Christians; a considerable Shiite Moslem population, and some Palestinian refugees and newcomer Christian refugees from Iraq; most streets in Bourj Hammoud are named after various Armenian cities such as Yerevan, and rivers such as Arax. A lot of streets are also named after cities in modern-day Armenia and previous Armenian populated cities now located in Turkey, such as Marash, Sis, Adana, Aragats, Cilicia etc.

Mzher or Dzaghgatzor: located between Antelias and Bsalim, Metn.

Anjar, an Armenian village in Lebanon

Anjar; Arabic: عنجرArmenian: Անճար also known as Haoush Mousa; Arabic: حوش موسى is a town in Lebanon located in the Bekaa Valley. The population is about 2,400 consisting almost entirely of Armenians.

According to the traditional Lebanese confessional representation – only in Lebanon – in Parliament, 6 seats have been reserved for Armenian candidates according to their confessions. Presently Lebanese-Armenians are represented in the 128-seat Lebanese Parliament with 5 Armenian Orthodox and 1 Armenian Catholic as follows:

3 Armenian Orthodox seats in the capital Beirut

1 Armenian Orthodox seat in the Matn District

1 Armenian Orthodox seat in Zahle (Bekaa)

1 Armenian Catholic seat in the capital Beirut

Because most Protestants in Lebanon are ethnic Armenians, the solo parliamentary slot for the Evangelical Protestant community has at times been filled by an Armenian, making for a total of 7 Armenian deputies in the Lebanese Parliament.

Lebanese-Armenians have also been represented by at least one government minister in the formations of Lebanese governments. In case of larger governments with 24 ministers and above, Armenians are traditionally given two Armenian government ministry positions. Lebanese-Armenians also have their quota in top-level public posts.

The Media

Lebanese Armenians have developed an active interest in developing media outlets. Lebanese Armenians were keen in establishing daily-newspapers since the 1920s when they settled in great numbers in Lebanon. Pyunik was the first newspaper established and was replaced by Aztag in 1927.

There are three Armenian daily-newspapers published in Beirut; all mouthpieces of the traditional Armenian political parties: the Aztag Daily: Tashnag; the Ararad Daily: Hunchag; and the Zartok Daily: Ramgavar.
